Choices taken from the Wikipedia listing for Join The Dots; I've only included "official" b-sides (where my definition of "official" lets me count "New Day").

HI DERE, Friday, 1 June 2007 12:48 (eighteen years ago)

wow that's a lot of choices

HI DERE, Friday, 1 June 2007 12:52 (eighteen years ago)

Voted "Speak My Language". Probably lots of great ones I haven't heard though.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 1 June 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

hahaha omg do I vote for "Lament" like I was going to or DO THE HANSA????

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 1 June 2007 12:56 (eighteen years ago)

man what a great band

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 1 June 2007 12:56 (eighteen years ago)

Totally voting for "Lament", no question.

Trayce, Friday, 1 June 2007 12:57 (eighteen years ago)

Tho "hey you!!!" hmm.

Trayce, Friday, 1 June 2007 12:57 (eighteen years ago)

I think it would be easier for me to list the songs off this list that I don't love; they don't even show a hint of weakness until "Snow In Summer"/"Sugar Girl" and you don't run into an actually BAD song until... "A Foolish Arrangement" maybe...?

HI DERE, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:00 (eighteen years ago)

THrow Your Foot Awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Mark G, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:01 (eighteen years ago)

Also Geir, GET JOIN THE DOTS IT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY

HI DERE, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:02 (eighteen years ago)

Dan OTM

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:04 (eighteen years ago)

I rly should get that album, Ive only heard a few things from it.

Trayce, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:07 (eighteen years ago)

Urgh... That's an impossible poll...

I've narrowed it down to "Just One Kiss", "Happy the Man", "Throw your Foot", "New Day" and "Stop Dead".

baaderonixx, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:16 (eighteen years ago)

A Few Hours After This is fantastic

nate woolls, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, the 1984-1985 era b-sides are unstoppable.

baaderonixx, Friday, 1 June 2007 13:47 (eighteen years ago)

I was thinking the same of 1982-1983.

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 1 June 2007 14:01 (eighteen years ago)

Let's agree on 1982-1985 then.

baaderonixx, Friday, 1 June 2007 14:02 (eighteen years ago)

The "This Twilight Garden"/"Play" combo is one my favorite one-two punches.

HI DERE, Friday, 1 June 2007 16:55 (eighteen years ago)

Also Geir, GET JOIN THE DOTS IT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY

I know, I know.

Geir Hongro, Friday, 1 June 2007 16:59 (eighteen years ago)

wanko ergo sum, Friday, 1 June 2007 18:32 (eighteen years ago)

SOOO many great ones to choose from, but I'm going with "Babble" (with "I'm Cold" and "A Few Hours After This" close behind).

Alex in NYC, Friday, 1 June 2007 18:38 (eighteen years ago)

Auggggh! This was harder than the A-sides! Went for 'Throw Your Foot' but anything from the mid-80s period is equally worthy.

SeekAltRoute, Friday, 1 June 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

I should have included "Let's Go To Bed" (Milk Mix) and "Primary" (Red Mix). I would so love an entire album of unreleased Mixed Up tracks.

HI DERE, Friday, 1 June 2007 21:23 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah the LGTB (milk mix) owns anything that made it on the album.

baaderonixx, Saturday, 2 June 2007 01:19 (eighteen years ago)

BTW, pretty surprised anyone would vote for 'Babble', which always struck me as one of their weakest b-sides.

baaderonixx, Saturday, 2 June 2007 01:20 (eighteen years ago)

This is impossible to choose. So many great ones. "A Japanese Dream", "The Exploding Boy", "Fear of Ghosts", "Lament", "Breathe","New Day"... A lot of my favorite Cure songs are B-Sides.

LeRooLeRoo, Saturday, 2 June 2007 07:05 (eighteen years ago)

BTW, pretty surprised anyone would vote for 'Babble', which always struck me as one of their weakest b-sides.

You're high. It's great.

Alex in NYC, Saturday, 2 June 2007 12:54 (eighteen years ago)

2 Late (unheralded)
<
Babble (great, brooding)
<
A Few Hours After This (symphonic plus plus plus)
<
A Man Inside My Mouth (tickles my inner 15-year-old funny bone)
<
The Upstairs Room (evidence that The Cure could have been a better Depeche Mode if they stayed in the synth pop arena)
<
Speak My Language (gets time me chorus every)
<
Throw Your Foot (can't believe this didn't make the cut for "The Top")
<
Hey You!!! ("come over here and kiss me, kiss me!")

So the answer is "Hey You!!!" (What other b-side in history contains the main album's title?)

MC, Saturday, 2 June 2007 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

Hey You!!!'s an album track, it's only the 12" remix that's on the box set.

energy flash gordon, Sunday, 3 June 2007 11:54 (eighteen years ago)

Whoa, I don't know any Cure b-sides, but I will probably take the highest placed songs here and make a mix CD out of them.

billstevejim, Sunday, 3 June 2007 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

"Hey You!!!" is fantastic

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 3 June 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

"Hey You!!!" is not on the original CD pressing. Only the cassette and (maybe) the double vinyl.

MC, Sunday, 3 June 2007 23:33 (eighteen years ago)

The original CD pressing omitted Hey You from the tracklisting because CDs couldn't be that long at the time. It absolutely was on the vinyl.

energy flash gordon, Monday, 4 June 2007 08:23 (eighteen years ago)

they don't even show a hint of weakness until "Snow In Summer"/"Sugar Girl"

I object to the suggestion that Sugar Girl is anything other than great.

onimo, Monday, 4 June 2007 10:18 (eighteen years ago)

I chose 'New Day' in the end. There's nothing quite like it in their catalogue and despite having heard it a zillion times, it still always produce that chilling effect it had on me when I was listening to it on a cheap walkman as a 15 y.o.

baaderonixx, Monday, 4 June 2007 13:04 (eighteen years ago)

"Sugar Girl" isn't that great compared to all of the other KM^3 b-sides (ESPECIALLY "A Chain Of Flowers") but I wouldn't say it was bad by any means.

I wonder if anyone is going to choose "This Is A Lie" (Ambient Mix)? lol

HI DERE, Monday, 4 June 2007 13:51 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think I even heard that one.

baaderonixx, Monday, 4 June 2007 14:03 (eighteen years ago)

Not missing much!

HI DERE, Monday, 4 June 2007 14:12 (eighteen years ago)

I am going to kick myself for not voting for "This Twilight Garden", aren't I.

HI DERE, Thursday, 7 June 2007 13:22 (eighteen years ago)

A: Yes.

Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 7 June 2007 13:40 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Friday, 8 June 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Saturday, 9 June 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Wow. Very even distribution here.

HI DERE, Sunday, 10 June 2007 01:08 (eighteen years ago)

it's because they're all fantastic!

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 10 June 2007 02:09 (eighteen years ago)

(BTW, I am regretting not voting for "Home" more than I'm regretting not voting for "This Twilight Garden", but I can't be too mad about voting for "New Day".)

HI DERE, Sunday, 10 June 2007 02:12 (eighteen years ago)

I dont know how I missed "10:15" in the list, it was a bside!?

Oh well, still would have voted for "Lament" anyway :)

Trayce, Sunday, 10 June 2007 02:25 (eighteen years ago)

I'm sad 'Just One Kiss' didn't place higher.

baaderonixx, Sunday, 10 June 2007 08:24 (eighteen years ago)

eight months pass...

I wonder if anyone is going to choose "This Is A Lie" (Ambient Mix)? lol

Well, Lol isn't on the list of writers, so no.

Mark G, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:22 (seventeen years ago)

A Few Hours After This is an incredible song. One of The Cure's very best.

nate woolls, Friday, 15 February 2008 10:24 (seventeen years ago)

twilight garden and play deserved more votes, I loved that single

akm, Friday, 15 February 2008 14:33 (seventeen years ago)

I think that single overall is the best one they ever put out.

HI DERE, Friday, 15 February 2008 14:40 (seventeen years ago)

I'm surprised A Few Hours gets such high marks. I have a friend who loves it, too. Goes in one ear and out the other for me, and I tried it several times.

I'm not sure what I would have voted for. I still have to get to the 3rd CD on Join The Dots which I almost played last night, but certainly will this weekend.

Bimble, Friday, 15 February 2008 16:05 (seventeen years ago)

I quite liked "A Man Inside My Mouth"

(There's gotta be a better way to phrase that)

I should repoll the ones with 0 votes

low-rent black gangster nicknamed Bootsy (DJP), Monday, 13 June 2011 18:58 (fourteen years ago)

In that case, "It Used to Be Me," "The Big Hand," "The Exploding Boy" or "Adonais," I think.
