This guy was such an important figure in early house music by virtue of numerous ridiculous classic productions.
I consider him one of the best producers of all-time. Is he generally regarded really highly to the point that it's understood? I say that because I feel like he's unrepresented in discussion here (along with Chicago house in general).

Recently my fav Marshall Jefferson discovery is Underground Repairs "Stay in the Life". Cloudy pads whisper away over vampy "Sueno Latino" style pianos and a Roy Davis Jnr disco bassline, all underpinned by the most masterfully programmed drum fills and cymbal crashes - just so tastefully deep in the best possible way.

oh fuck, what's up with marshall?
I really appreciate the love, but right now I just don’t have the energy to talk to all of you on the phone it’s too much. I’m in a serious fight I love you all. MJ— Marshall Jefferson (@MarshallJeffers) January 5, 2021

I always loved him. 'house music anthem' was my fav early house song of all early house songs
I don't think I fully realized how many of my fav early house songs he was actually responsible for, IE that he produced "video clash" and lil louis put out the edit under his own name. or that he did the jungle wonz stuff, or 'it's alright' by sterling void, plus of course the biggest Ten City songs, and then he had a crazy run in the 90s which culminates in this bonkers "Animals EP" with "The Horse (Is Coming)"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PnKrd4qPnA
and
"The Cow (Is Already Waiting)"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9sv3aBgumo
damn what a genius. does anyone have any other fav marshall jefferson traxx?I was disappointed in the cabaret voltaire stuff

Yeah, that is lovely!
“Bird in a Gilded Cage” (or “Bird in a Guilded Cage” per the original release) would easily be my pick. Still often staggers me after many dozens of listens.
If remixes of MJ count, another favorite I assume many are familiar with is Justin Martin's mix of “Mushrooms”?
