"Francis Albert Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim"

One of my five favorite Sinatra albums. He never sang softer before or since, and the juxtaposition of The Voice with Jobim's murmurs on many tracks is nicely humble and certainly even a little offbeat. (Imagine Frank with Monk accompaniment, including Monk's humming.

"Dindi" has a haiki-like quality in this version; this "Change Partners" is so assured, yet perhaps ever so slightly worried that the gambit won't work.

Also worth noting that this is the version of "Baubles, Bangles and Beads" that "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero put on the stereo just before being shot to death and stripped of his jewelry and tossed over the side of the boat.

Huh. The new spellchecker in Firefox knows Sinatra, but not Jobim. Or spellchecker.

Yeah, I was gonna say the second chorus where he lags the beat on the word "con-cen-trate" is ace.

I bought this album for my mom, but have never heard it all. I keep meaning to borrow it/burn a copy.

One of the few records I managed to rescue from my grandad's collection when he died. Classic from start to finish.

Is it Sinatra’s last great album?
