Explosions in the Sky - It's Natural to be Afraid

rockapads, Saturday, 9 June 2007 08:18 (eighteen years ago)

Amerie. The firstest one. Although I wouldn't quite go so far to say drunk, "tipsy" is probably better. This album ends really anti-climatically. I just noticed the outro steals its piano line from "Bia Bia" though. I'd been trying to figure out where I recognized it from. And now I'm going to listen to something else undecided.

The Reverend, Sunday, 10 June 2007 10:29 (eighteen years ago)

Pa'l Mundo by Wisin y Yandel, that's what.

The Reverend, Sunday, 10 June 2007 10:33 (eighteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

Joy Division? What? Me? For like the 345th billionth time? NAh!

Led Zeppelin, The Who, and The Beatles can all go to hell when Joy Division's "The Sound Of Music" comes on, on vinyl.

Bimble, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 04:54 (eighteen years ago)

Joy Division - "The Only Mistake".

They were the best band in the history of the human race. I never would have said that 20 years ago. It's weird. I don't understand how JD has come to mean more to me than New Order.

Bimble, Wednesday, 4 July 2007 05:01 (eighteen years ago)

Sorting by time on iTunes reveals to me that seven of what I
consider perfect rock songs are 2:26 seconds in length

Fendermen - Muleskinner Blues
Soundgarden - Drawing Flies
Radio Birdman - What Gives
You Got Me Hummin' - Reigning Sound
You Gonna Get It - Coachwhips
Rise Above - Black Flag
Mystery Train - Elvis Presley

Black Sabbath - "Supernaut"

mysterbey, Thursday, 5 July 2007 00:07 (eighteen years ago)

New Town Centres - Reason You're Alive
New Town Centres - Video Killed The Radio Star

the next grozart, Thursday, 5 July 2007 00:18 (eighteen years ago)

Man, you folks just won't quit with the Supernaut love. I'll have to check that out in a sec here. I don't know if I've even heard that song before.

Bimble, Thursday, 5 July 2007 00:30 (eighteen years ago)

Negativland, The Scientists, Faust, Bubblyfish, Need New Body and lastly, and most importantly, 'Kookie Kookie (Lend Me Your Comb)' by Edd 'Kookie' Byrnes & Connie Stevens.

emil.y, Thursday, 5 July 2007 01:01 (eighteen years ago)

Listening to Negativland drunk! Now there's something I've never tried. Fantastic idea.

Bimble, Thursday, 5 July 2007 01:25 (eighteen years ago)

Oh...Bimble goes apeshit about Echo & The Bunnymen's Ocean Rain again, what a surprise.

BUT THE CD HAS BONUS TRACKS THIS TIME STARTING WITH ANGELS & DEVILS!!!

Bimble, Thursday, 5 July 2007 01:34 (eighteen years ago)

7A3 - Coolin' in Cali

Oilyrags, Thursday, 5 July 2007 02:04 (eighteen years ago)

I have been listening to "Bring Me The Head Of" from Magic Dirt's myspace page like crazy. It's kind of like a dream: underappreciated contendors for best guitar band in the world disappear from the US, go semi-pop in Australia to the point where I mostly give up on them, and then suddenly decide to self-release a mini-album that goes back to their Stooges/Motorhead roots like a motherfucker.

Well, for that song anyway. Haven't heard the rest yet. Nicest surprise of the year to date. http://www.myspace.com/magicdirt

dlp9001, Thursday, 5 July 2007 02:46 (eighteen years ago)

Fuck, you guys were right about Black Sabbath's "Supernaut". No freaking way could an American band have done that. That is classic.

@ Bimble re: 'Supernaut'... dig that almost Trinidadian break at around the 2'38" mark! Freekin' genius!

mysterbey, Thursday, 5 July 2007 06:10 (eighteen years ago)

Didn't Ministry (or one of Jorgensons side projects) cover Supernaut? I seem to recall it getting flogged at goth clubs in the late 90s/early 00's and I know it wasnt the Sabbath version.

mysterbey, Thursday, 5 July 2007 07:16 (eighteen years ago)

Rochefort 10, listening to the Who's Live at Leeds and emulating Keith Moon being both on stage and out of the stage.

Korcnoj, Saturday, 7 July 2007 20:00 (eighteen years ago)

I heard that 1000 Homo DJs cover while browsing in Doctor Disc once. I like how they felt the urge to actually exclaim "SUPERNAUT!!" every once in a while.
