Yeah, I'd assumed that "Landslide" and "Rhiannon" were both singles/hits but I guess I was off. They're the only two Nicks songs anyway IINM.

There's a live version of "Rhiannon" from the Mirage tour (I think?) that I've seen on VH1 Classic that's surprisingly intense.

Although again there's arguments for everything. "Blue Letter" is marvellously tense, "Say You Love Me" is gorgeous, "I'm So Afraid" is an excellent and bizarre closer.

Normally I'd go with "Over My Head" (sublime) or "Rihannon" (fierce) but lately it's been "Monday Morning," just because the drums are so perfect (it's like Buddy Holly backed by the greatest rhythm section in the world).

"Over My Head" - the single mix. Gotta admire that remastered CD for providing the most vivid-ever examples of how an alternate mix can result in a radically different song.

Second favourite = "Say You Love Me". Which means that, for me, Christine maintained the highest batting-averaage both here & on Rumours.

"Warm Ways" is the most seductive song McVie will ever write. Listening to it is akin to awakening and realizing that not only are you NOT alone in bed, but that you LIKE the person you woke up with.

"crystal" for sure, although it is far inferior to the beautiful string-laden version from the buckingham-nicks album.

Stevie takes this one all the way

I find it interesting that Stevie's, er, craft, springs into being fully formed on this album, whereas when you look at Buckingham and McVie, they really developed and transformed over the period b/w the S/T album and Tango in the Night - ironically that last album strikes me as being the most "Stevie" in feel (ethereal, mysterious, mystical) even though, "Seven Wonders" aside her songs are by far the weakest on there. And even "Seven Wonders" falls short of all the big Stevie singles from the prior albums.

It's as if her talent had begun to stagnate a bit. She's totally back on form on Say You Will however.

(what a triumph McVie's "Isn't It Midnight" is though - we should so have a Tango poll)
