Unjustly forgotten 80's new wave classics on You Tube

'Move On' by Fashion. It's the missing link between John Foxx and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. This is a really, really brilliant track, and the clip is very stylish, do yourself a favour etc.

...and speaking of the fantastic Mr Foxx, 'Dancing Like a Gun':

'Lovers and enemies are waltzing in the waves'. At this point, John Foxx had the most stylish shirts, and the most stylised dance moves, in English rock. Shocking image quality does not reduce the pleasure.

Gary Numan at his most bonkers on 'White Boys and Heroes':

Holy bassline, Pino! This is your song. Did the track really go top twenty in the UK? 95% of the huge budget for this clip clearly went on cocaine.

Sweet dreams! Don't let the DOLLIES GET YOU!

The You Tube thread for late 70's/early 80's post punk new wave gems that will set your pants on fire!

By the way, it breaks my heart how awful Fashion had become by the time "Move On" came out. I really love some of their earlier stuff but they had a different vocalist then.

I appreciate the DAF, though. I don't think that one was on the other thread.

Move On and many other Fashion songs from that period, like Dressed To Kill, are totally classic.

Der Plan - Gummitwist:

My German teacher introduced me and my class to Der Plan, Ideal and other Neue Waffe groups in the early 80's. Der Plan have something in common with Devo, though the drums are teutonic and DAF-like. They know the value of a good old knees-up chorus.

I don't know if this qualifies as "forgotten" but I just thought of this song out of the blue and it fit my mood perfectly:

Great new wave video cliches with the LED VU meters and a random neon sculpture.

Rheingold - "Augenblick"

I love how they just used the same set from the last video but changed clothes.

Yeah, I was gonna say, xpost, that shit is pretty heavy on me, Elvis. Wow. I've heard of that band, but...shit.

Also, when I was a teenager I wrote a poem called Ein Augenblick Allein. This is of course, extremely relevant to this thread *wink wink*.

RHEINGOLD COMPUTER BEAT

Dreiklangsdimensionen - they occasionally play that at the German Club down the road along with various other 80's new wave numbers. I love that song - the primitive Dr Rhythm drum machine, the wavering guitars, and the discrete vocals and general moodiness.

Someone out there has to be making a synth out of red, yellow, and clear lucite.

Edith Nylon - "Edith Nylon"

Between this and Rheingold 1980 might be my favorite music year ever.

We showed the movie that's from in NYC a few months ago. No subtitles, but that was hardly needed.
