sweet

Chris, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've never cared for blonde hair contrasted by a black unibrow - so the singer from Def Leppard gets a vote..

Dave225, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was just engaged in a debate about this the other day. And the winner is . . . the entirety of Grand Funk Railroad.

lee g, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

the curly mullet alone is enough to win.

It's not like he's perpetually hideous-looking, but that Iggy Pop photo on the cover of "Lust For Life"... total nightmare fodder.

Then again... "With A Little Help From My Friends", anyone?

Nate Patrin, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think we had thee trio of MacGowan, Richard Thompson and that cadaverous Verve guy (Ashcroft?). I think the last was more of a "most unhealthy looking" vote.

Hunter, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

For some reason my girlfriends and I think Ashcroft is hot. As well as Michael Stipe. People say we have problems.

Simona, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Richard Ashcroft wins the unhealthy looking award for sure.
Ugliest otherwise might go to Meatloaf as the artist I dont want to see naked ever.

Mr Noodles, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

David Thomas.

I thought Grand Funk were the sexiest men alive when I was 11 years old. I really wanted a bicep bracelet like Mark Farner's.

And Iggy's ADORABLE on the cover of Lust for Life, like Alfred E. Neuman.

I can't really think of anyone I would describe as "horrid".

Arthur, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There are too many obvious gross-out men to choose from. Nobody has mentioned any women yet - don't they have a right to be horrid- looking too ? To set the ball rolling, I have no option than to go for Courtney Love, followed at some distance but nonetheless still horridly by Patti Smith, and (ulp) Samantha Fox.

That's not a rock star, that's a cadaver with skin stretched over a plastic coating.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dimebag Darrell. In fact, anybody with a weird-beard.

Andy, Thursday, 18 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Lust for Life's friendly cover says in pure paedophile style "Won't you be my Neighbor?"
But the cover to American Caesar is much much worse. "Hi, I just got back from an Health Spa in Dachau."

Lord Custos II, Friday, 19 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Excuse me, I think Patti Smith is very attractive. My vote for h0rr!d3zt goes to Steve H0we, or Genesis P 0rridge

The one time I even joking said something here about a rock star being ugly, I got comments like "postings like this make me want to leave the board!" so I'll keep schtum.

For once, anyway.

Nicole, Friday, 19 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Eh? Now I'm curious! E-mail me about that.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Naughty Geeta. My vote goes to Staind.

Damian, Saturday, 20 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Bob Mould is very ugly.

Sean, Thursday, 25 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Eeek, sorry Nicole...I didn't mean to traumatize you so. I must have been in a particularly cranky mood that day, though I still think this whole "x = ugly" thing is pretty juvenile. And for what it's worth, I think Patti Smith is pretty attractive, too. I don't understand the "Richard Thompson = ugly" thing either, because to me he just looks like a normal guy. Geeze.

Sean Carruthers, Thursday, 25 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

For what it's worth, however, I have no problem with people making fun of rock stars who look really ugly because of their choice in clothing and haircut...I mean, at least you have a choice over that.

Sean Carruthers, Thursday, 25 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

three weeks pass...
Rob Tyner from the MC5 was definitely an unlikely front man. I can't say he is in MacGowan's league, he is off the chart.

earlnash, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oh come on, macgowan isn't a toothpaste ad, but he's not THAT ugly!

minna, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Minna is a far better person than I am.

Dan Perry, Wednesday, 22 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

haha... i have only now discovered that i was wrong in assuming that first picture was a really awful one. thought i could see a warm, good-natured lookin person (see the dimple? bet that goes with a cheeky grin!) unfortunately i went off searching for better ones and it turned out that i had to search quite far and wide to find a picture that wasn't worse. but here it is! he looks normal!
