Is Jane Scott cooler than all of us?

Oh, probably. I've heard about her for years and I knew she just recently retired, but it was only from reading this story on her retirement that I understand quite how worthy she is, from the sound of it.

And she's a Navy vet = she is therefore damn cool (sez the Navy brat that is me).

I met her once, I'm glad to say. Jane Scott is way cooler than any of us can ever hope to be. And she didn't act cool.

three years pass...
Sunday night, at the Bruce Springsteen show in Cleveland, The Boss dedicated "Incident on 57th Street" to Jane Scott, who was in the ninth row: "Goodnight, it's all tight, Jane / I'll meet you tomorrow night on Lovers' Lane."

Jane covered Bruce since his very early days. This woman is way cooler than all of us.

Again I say classic. You can never say enough good things about Jane Scott. She must have been near 50 when she started going to the shows of and writing supportive articles about bands like Pere Ubu.

Quite a life. Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, and David Thomas all liked her.

RIP Jane, you lived it up right from what I can tell
Scott was "a champion -- more like her, please," said Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders.

Grew up reading her column in the PD and seeing her at shows when she was in her 70s! RIP, cool lady.

It's a shame I never heard of Jane Scott considering how much rock criticism I've read the past fifteen years. Did she mainly do concert reviews for the local Cleveland paper? Anyway, she apparently lead a pretty sweet life. RIP.
