Question about New Order on CD

...so, along the lines of the recent Associates - multiple versions of their albums thread, a question I've had for a while: is it true that the UK CDs of New Order's albums are more recently remastered and noticeably better-sounding than the US discs, or is it one of those "Metal Box sounds TOTALLY DIFFERENT from Second Edition" things? Curious since I have the compulsion to get my New Order stuff sorted, amazon UK have most of them for cheap, and about half of mine are CD-R copies anyway...

Metal Box sounds totally different from Second Edition. Is that how you say it? "Different from"? I never got that, and I know the AP stylebook backward and forward. Anyway, buy some CDs already, lazy cur.

Really? I'd always heard that the CD mastering of Metal Box versus Second Edition was almost indistinguishable... I'll have to borrow a friend's copy of Second Edition and check it out firsthand.

And yes, yes, I am thoroughly lazy; the CD-Rs date from a few years ago when I was jobless and stuck with a heavy class schedule. Of all the copied discs, Technique is first in line to be replaced, that's for goddamn sure. The rest are Brotherhood and Republic (which I'm not particularly fond of, but eh, can't leave it alone).

Damn you, BBCode, you have crossed me for the last time!

I'm sure those CDs (Metal Box/Second Edition) are exactly the same.

I thought dude meant Metal Box, the real thing on vinyl . . . whatever. Lydon spits on our CDs, I'm sure.

Prolly New Order's, too.

Lydon spits on everything, God bless him.

The CD masters are probably pretty dodgy compared to the real deal but I've never seen the LP (original or 4 Men With Beards reissue) for a non-ridiculous price. I mean, I love the album, but not $50 worth of love.
