this is very difficult. but im going to give it to the 'dyl and lil' collaboration just because its so happy and makes me feel pleased to be alive and is very catchy and positive and i could imagine it being played on cbeebies for The Kids and i like hearing sickly sweet stuff like this.

I vote for "Teenage Life"

titchy pretty much OTM. "Wanna Be" fills me with warm fuzzies whenever I hear it. Lily's the best she's ever been, well this and "Nan you're a window shopper" - "your mum buys your bling" is such a quaint diss. "Dream" actually annoys me because of Dizzee's singing along.

best bits in wanna be (its very hard to pick my fave bits though)-

beef, straps, cuts, glory
all these high bredders in the club adore me
i wish when i come through they ignore me
i really cant deal with another war story
bredders in my face with a fist full of paper
trying to make out there a big money maker
talking all loud
and i got time rude boi's see you later
and i cant forget these groupies following
front and rear and right there hollering
yeah i know i shouldn't be complaining
but these jezzabelles do my brain in

I aint no groupie, who you calling jezzabelle?
dont chat to me like im just any girl.
[allow, security somebody move her]
i dont wanna talk to you anyway loser

leave me alone or you'll be sorry
beef aint nothing new to me you wally
why dont you just kick back be jolly
stay at home with a cuppa tea watch corrie
im not listening anyway MAN
who rattled your cage anyway MAN
aint no slacking with this young MAN
do what i gotta do everyday FAM

i still haven't worked out whether the jezebel bit in 'wanna be' is poking fun at the girl (acting like she's above dizz when she's just a groupie) or at dizz himself (cast as drunken celeb type harassing women who haven't even noticed him) - would rather it was the latter.

i don't really know which i'd choose - maybe 'wanna be'.

i think its just the jezebel being offended at dizzee saying shes a groupie and nothing more - her getting annoyed is the 'groupie's way of getting back at dizzee (so usually where you have the rapper tired of scheming evil gold diggers, shes basically sticking up for the poor girl in the club who isnt actually one of those but is assumed to be anyway)

dream, duh

i was annoyed at his gig that he played a bit of dream than cutit off after the first few bars by saying 'fuck that shit' and went into sirens.

1. Dream. It was my grandmother's favorite song; she sang it to me all the time. I love Dizzee singing along out of key.

2. "Dyl and Lil" annoys me a bit in context with all the other battle rhymes on the record. Dissing rivals for their lack of hits is more effective when Jay-Z (or anyone else with some actual hits) does it, but is never very interesting. I do like the "Jezebel" part, though, and def think its effect is to deflate Dizzee a bit.
