So there are cheap round-trip NYC-Gatwick flights through Zoom Airlines. And it would be fun to see Cymande, Konono No. 1, Ulrich Schnauss, K&D, Biosphere...
For Coachella I know the deal: great lineup, too hot, too expensive, too crowded, but if you can get some friends together and a house in Palm Springs you might enjoy it.
But being USAian I don't know the ground-level on Big Chill. Help?

not too hot, not too expensive (but not cheap either! admittedly for a festival the food is GREAT), not too crowded, location is wonderful, surely must be better than Hell (or wherever) Coachellans go to burn...
I'm never quite sure if the line up highlights adequately balance out the bulk of the rest of it personally (went once, tbh not too inclined to repeat at the price until it excites me more/takes a few more risks). It's very relaxed, very middle class(!), can border on boring, you'll probably get a better answer on their own forum: http://forum.bigchill.net/

I thought this thread was gonna be about insufferable old people getting all warm and fuzzy about "Jane Says" and "How Soon Is Now."
