Will the Fenessz Endless Summer T-Shirt get a vote?

Z S, Thursday, 28 June 2007 02:14 (eighteen years ago)

Tempted to vote for that Massimo album for the cover alone, but went for Sheer Hellish Miasma.

Ivan, Thursday, 28 June 2007 02:23 (eighteen years ago)

Hey Baby..., I mean.

Ivan, Thursday, 28 June 2007 02:24 (eighteen years ago)

I voted for "Phantom Orchard" since it's one of my favorite duo improv recordings. At least I think it's mostly improv. Totally superb electronics. Never fails to please.

Capitaine Jay Vee, Thursday, 28 June 2007 07:04 (eighteen years ago)

return of FOB then shojo toshi (out of the whole six that i've heard)

tremendoid, Thursday, 28 June 2007 07:14 (eighteen years ago)

i went with endless summer, obivious since it's the best electronic album ever. (only 12 releases heard)

maarten, Thursday, 28 June 2007 07:24 (eighteen years ago)

either sheer hellish miasma, or the pita/schmickler record I'm releasing this fall on erstwhile.

jon abbey, Thursday, 28 June 2007 07:26 (eighteen years ago)

Tujiko Noriko FTW

Noodle Vague, Thursday, 28 June 2007 07:35 (eighteen years ago)

i'm happy & i'm singing & a 1 2 3 4

stephen, Thursday, 28 June 2007 07:41 (eighteen years ago)

Endless Summer is gonna win this by a landslide.

baaderonixx, Thursday, 28 June 2007 09:58 (eighteen years ago)

I'm voting for Mego 777 just on a value for money basis. It's got about three months of music on it! Of course, I've barely listened to the thing.

Michael Jones, Thursday, 28 June 2007 10:58 (eighteen years ago)

Fennesz Plays.

I have it on mp3, 7", CD and 10" = I am in love.

Steve Shasta, Thursday, 28 June 2007 12:20 (eighteen years ago)

Do you get to hear subliminal messages when you play all formats simultaneously? But yes, it is indeed beautiful. Bought the 10" reissue last year.

willem, Thursday, 28 June 2007 12:40 (eighteen years ago)

Hecker or Pita

Milton Parker, Thursday, 28 June 2007 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

Hotel Paral.lel but no Endless Summer??

baaderonixx, Thursday, 28 June 2007 22:04 (eighteen years ago)

Speaking of, Hotel Paral.lel >>>>> Endless Summer.

It's really hard to underestimate how important H.P. was when it came out in terms of its aesthetic of digital noise (even though it was not recorded using a computer, but a sampler) meets guitar rock. In my mind, Endless Summer is a refinement of the ideas of H.P., but using the computer-based technology that was available four years later. H.P. is the real trailblazer.

Bill in Chicago, Thursday, 28 June 2007 22:13 (eighteen years ago)

I personally think HP sucks aside from "Aus".

But to your credit, it sounds like you are discussing Instrument, in which case I would 1000% agree OTM 8080 &c.

Steve Shasta, Thursday, 28 June 2007 22:17 (eighteen years ago)

I forgot to include 'Instrument', that's a good one. But I only heard that one later and at the time H.P. was the one to turn on the new lightbulb. E.S. was one step too Spielberg at the time but I should listen again, I'd probably like it fine now

Milton Parker, Thursday, 28 June 2007 22:22 (eighteen years ago)

it sounds like you are discussing Instrument

I love Instrument also, but it doesn't really integrate digital noise at all which is what I was describing as the interesting aspect of the aesthetic of Hotel Parallel.

Actually, all the early Mego releases are sample-heavy and dance oriented and not anything of the digital noise moves that became their trademark. It wasn't until Seven Tons for Free that they started making and releasing that sort of thing.

Speaking of the early stuff, if you can track down Live and Final Fridge by General Magic and Pita on Source records, it's totally awesome.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Bill in Chicago OTM. The correct answer is Frantz!

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Saturday, 30 June 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

had i voted in this, i would've voted for the magic sound of fenn 'o berg. i think plays was the first mego i bought and it was definitely a throwing down of the gauntlet. what a label.

tricky, Saturday, 30 June 2007 23:12 (eighteen years ago)

Sad to see Farmers Manual get zero votes.

Jena, Saturday, 30 June 2007 23:16 (eighteen years ago)

Told you so

baaderonixx, Sunday, 1 July 2007 02:36 (eighteen years ago)

Kudos whoever else voted for Hard ni sasete. Unless I did it twice and forgot.
