Thread for links to video of exemplary dancing

I think it would be great to have this collected all in one place. What I have in mind is for people to post links to videos of people dancing well to different styles of dance music (in the broad sense, but dance music in the narrow sense is perfectly welcome). I'd like to avoid having people link to just any example. I'm curious about what people think is good dancing for that particular style of dance/music. Preferably, I'd like this from individuals who are actually involved in the particular dancing scene. (I will try to find some salsa, merengue, and bachata I like, but I almost never see footage of what I think of as good examples of social dancing for any of these styles.)

Great idea, Rockist! You are aware however, that there are those among us who espouse the belief that "music is not for dancing"? : )

I haven't gone dancing in ages, but this particular clip blows me away.

They don't have to look.

Rockist Scientist, Friday, 29 June 2007 11:58 (eighteen years ago)

There are probably some souls out there who believe that dancing is not for music, too. Doesn't mean we can't have our fun.

Oilyrags, Friday, 29 June 2007 11:59 (eighteen years ago)

Oh yeah, sure. I'm not sayin' it. It's just that there are some. : )

I'd like to try to track down some clips of talented deadheads/hippies dancing. Most of the videos on youtube are from the angle of "oh, make fun of the druggies trying to dance" - which is actually pretty representative - but there were definitely deadheads who could seriously throw down on the dance floor.

Lindy Hop sequence from Hellzapoppin

Classic clip you may have encountered already over the years (it's from 1941), but still pretty exhilarating and worth seeing again. (If you don't mind subtle reminder of 1941-style racial standards.)

from remix mag feature on record-shopping with Magda:
"I love this song because it reminds me of being young in Detroit and watching The New Dance Show on TV. It was a continuation of its precursor The Scene, a local weekly dance show on Detroit Public Television. People would get down to stuff like Apollonia 6, Shari Vari, Soulsonic Force and, of course, Miss Chaka Khan in true Detroit party style."

This was not a successful thread but it's another place for me to put Tito Ortos video clips, and maybe someone will see them. I have never really had favorite "famous" salsa dancers, but I really like what I've seen of his social dancing (I avoid salsa performance clips almost completely):

I think a lot of people took it as a joke. I'm not a dancer myself, and unfortunately, I can only offer videos like this:
