Does anyone else love the Midnight Juggernauts?

'shadows' is really great, best thing out of the whole cut copy-inspired scene. full album due around august apparently.

they are sorta lackluster DJs, going on the one time i saw them. (BUT they did close their set with 'roam' by the B52s!)

saw them live with about 15 people in an austrailian theme bar last summer. they were ace. the new stuff is even better.

The album is called Dystopia apparently, out on Siberia in Australia sometime early next month. And did I mention they make great videos too? "Shadows" is bloody great, with the giant wireframe skull and floating heads and whatnot, and while "Road to Recovery" is slightly the lesser of the two, the song is better so it evens out. I have a borderline unhealthy love for this band.

I have been listening to the new record and it is solid. Frankly, i'm taken aback, didn't think it was going to be that GOOD. Anyone else been digging this lately ?

This new album is twice as good as the Hercules And Love Affair.

Oh, hey, there was a thread for these guys. Been loving the new album, although I can't draw a comparison between that and Hercules Whatever, having not heard the latter.

Herc is good and all, but it's a shame that it already monopolized "The Honorary Basement Jaxx Award presented to the one electronic record all year that indie rock kids will piss their pants over" when the Juggernauts offer awesome bladerunner moroder/carpenter house with enormous hooks and enormous synths.

The singer also has an amazing Bowie impression!

I want to like them but can't. H&LA is at least disco that rock kids like. This is rock music that pretends to be disco but isn't really and I find that very hard to subscribe to...

Ditto with the ELO, wtf re: "bladerunner moroder/carpenter house", get one Kavinsky etc etc. Was pretty unimpressed w/them live; wish they hadn't abandoned the "Raised By Wolves" angle.

I like this album, like a cross between Air, Berlin-era Bowie and some synth pop. And "Into The Galaxy" is a perfect pop song.

i thought this album was decent when i first heard it, then i saw them live and re-assessments had to be made.

They're decent I guess, although the guy's vocals get annoying and the album lacks variety (I rarely want to listen to it). Hopefully they'll develop more with the next record.

Their drummer is an animal. I can't believe he was standing on Ross's drumkit. I'd have been tearing my hair out.

It is totally epic.

I finally got around to getting the album (though I had to have someone in Rough Trade show me where it was - there are separate "electo" and "electonica" sections - who knew?) and it's making me happy indeed.

It's not quite as ... FULL ON as they are live, but still progalicious.

I'm going to ask for help - obviously I know what in the world of Prog they're musically namechecking, but what else in the world of dance (Daft Punk aside) sounds like this? Where are these things coming from? I know so little about that side of things.

I think it's Tombstone that's my fave. That was the one that was so utterly fucking epic with drum-kit standing episodes live.

Love that track but the lyrics to "Tombstone" are so unbelievably bad that I keep knocking this album down my best albums of 2008 list.

I am finding it hard to believe I was ever this enthusiastic about this band. The album really didn't do it for me, and I stopped keeping track of what they did afterward. Those singles are still fun, though.

every time I listen to the Crystal Axis I like it more, and I listen to it a LOT. my favorite song will probably always be "Fade to Red" but really there's not a song on here I don't like. gorgeous vinyl pressing too.

It's ace. In 2014, when a particularly annoying and chart-happy single of theirs is chronically over-played and gives everyone the shits, The Crystal Axis will be unearthed and finally get the recognition it deserves.

A few weeks ago, they released this Soviet-inspired video on youtube with Russian text to, I guess, see if anyone anywhere would find it. Someone did, and they copped to it earlier this week. Pretty cool new track imo.

Yeah, this is a p good rekkid.

definitely a great album, but i'm not enjoying it as much as the crystal axis (which is unfair considering how great that was). obv i'll be giving it plenty of time to grow. highlights:

- ballad of the war machine (obv; incredible)
- memorium (the new single, catchy as hell)
- streets of babylon (possibly the best track as it is, but i would LOVE to hear a 7–8 min version)
- melodiya

sadly this will sink like a stone because it's the midnight juggernauts

being released on the same date as the new empire of the sun will bury it even deeper, but that's also a pretty good album so

I'm guessing because it leaked about three months before release, meaning everyone who would have bought a copy just DLed it instead.

cosigned on astonishment @ the sustained collective apathy towards this band; they're fucking phenomenal. at this point I think Crystal Axis + Uncanny Valley is a better one-two album combo than In Ghost Colours + Zonoscope, although IGC is probably the best album of the 4 listed.

what I really can't figure out is why they haven't put the new album on Spotify yet. at this point just monetize it however you can, y'know?

Just seems to be a bad setup all around. This band may quite possibly have one of the more tuneful rock/electronic/dance hybrids going, too.
