"Fuck 'em all" = "Great Speckled Bird": if you buy Tosches' argument that the great speckled bird represented the eccentric country fire and brimstone church itself and the hymn was a celebration of appalachian alienation from the the mainstream which is not entirely unlike this Getto Boys/Al Pacino collaboration, a proud denunciation of EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD except themselves.

The Louvins had lovely voices and had lots of songs like The Kneeling Drunkard's Prayer and The Price On The Bottle and lots of other OTT Christian preaching, and at least one of them was a violent alcaholic = CLASSIC!

Listening idly to Dylan's Theme Time Hour on Radio 2 last night and "Knoxville Girl" stood out like Helen of Troy amid the Nolan Sisters. Deranged doesn't even come into it. "My bleeding nose"? Erm, right.

And the great thing about the Louvin Brothers is that they actually were/are unhinged redneck psychos!

on rsd i was standing in line behind this attractive 20-sthg hetero couple where the girl was treating the record store like a trip to the zoo, taking pictures of everything she thought was unusual or new/different/lol? in some way.

she propped Satan Is Real up on a shelf and then posted it to facebook (I was standing right behind her)

The only Louvin Brothers I own is a home-burned best-of, so I jumped at the chance to order this when somebody posted about it on Facebook yesterday:
