whoops, didn't notice there were two entries for "dedicated." uh. i guess vote for the first one?

for me it's a hard call between that, "will you love me tomorrow" and "baby it's you." i guess i'll go with "tomorrow," but just barely.

"Soldier Boy." The Shirelles are to post-TPA pop as Aeschylus is western lit. "Soldier Boy" was their Prometheus Bound.

i love the big shimmering opening to "soldier boy," and the bom-bom-ba-BOM-BOM-BOM build. i talked to doris jackson once and she said they got lots of letters from g.i.'s in vietnam.

non-automatic poll bump

I actually don't know many of these. I picked Baby It's You. Coincidentally I have Shirelles Greatest Hits on my playlist for next week, so I'd have been able to answer better then!

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Love everything I know by them, but that's mostly just the major hits. Went with "Tonight's the Night," my second choice would've been "Met Him on a Sunday," which I didn't realize was so early! I assumed it was '61 or something.

Is that "No Sugar Tonight" a Guess Who cover?

C. Grisso/McCain, Thursday, 5 July 2007 23:53 (eighteen years ago)

apparently. (it's id'd on the album tracklist as "no sugar tonight/new mother nature." i would like to hear it.

tipsy mothra, Friday, 6 July 2007 00:20 (eighteen years ago)

Wow, me too.

C. Grisso/McCain, Friday, 6 July 2007 00:24 (eighteen years ago)

Boring ol' "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" for me. (I guarantee that my Ronettes and Crystals and Shirelles choices would be more interesting.)

one more bump for passaic's finest.

I forgot I started it! Glad I did.

Also, in the pre-YouTube comments upthread I wistfully said I'd like to hear their Guess Who cover. Remedying that now. (It rules.)
