shoop shoop aaaaahhh.

(UK/US ones only for no particular reason other than general lack of au fait-ness with the mid-90s/early 00's Exotica tinkerings. No Cruel Summer '89, because, it's the same)

THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE.

"Robert De Niro's Waiting," Karate Kid classic not ruined by Ace of Base "Cruel Summer," and "I Heard A Rumour" could all qualify, but I'm going for the very underrated "A Trick of the Night," a sweet, sad hologram of a ballad.

Love in the first degree.

If you crashed on a desert island and everyone got a Bananarama single to get them through the ordeal*. you would be jealous of the LITFD person waaaaaay more than most of the others.

the opening bars of that single pwn this thread.

*some sort of gay airline emergency kit...

I think I own 19 of these singles on vinyl. do i win a prize? and this poll leaves out "every shade of blue" which i also have on vinyl.

I used to own "help" on cassingle, but i don't have it anymore. don't miss it either.

too hard to choose. though i do have an extraordinary fondness for the "do not disturb" single. that has my fave b-side on it as well.

the album that "more more more" was on is pretty good, by the way. i have that cd. and it came with a bonus remix cd that is pretty cheesy, but kinda fun.

I've heard Cruel Summer twice in the last week so it gets my vote for that.

I wonder how many ILMers (or indeed how many people who bought the recent CD reissue of Deep Sea Skiving) get that reference.

Jeff W, Thursday, 5 July 2007 15:12 (seventeen years ago)

Anyway I voted for "Love in the First Degree", albeit after much agonising.

Jeff W, Thursday, 5 July 2007 15:13 (seventeen years ago)

stuck between "Cruel Summer" and "Aie a Mwana"

Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 5 July 2007 16:45 (seventeen years ago)

"Really Saying Something"

zeus, Thursday, 5 July 2007 20:37 (seventeen years ago)

"Shy Boy" - as with Culture Club, my favourite single is their most Motown-ish

Myonga Vön Bontee, Friday, 6 July 2007 02:39 (seventeen years ago)

not that i'd vote for it as best but "look on the floor (hypnotic tango)" is GREAT

impudent harlot, Friday, 6 July 2007 02:49 (seventeen years ago)

Going with "Cruel Summer", but "Love In The First Degree" isn't that far behind.

LeRooLeRoo, Friday, 6 July 2007 20:47 (seventeen years ago)

electricsound, Saturday, 7 July 2007 23:47 (seventeen years ago)

Just now noticing that "Shy Boy" (which got my vote) peaked at #83 in the US while it was HUGE in Canada (which is kinda unusual) and in the UK (which isn't).

Myonga Vön Bontee, Saturday, 7 July 2007 23:53 (seventeen years ago)

I would have voted for "Cruel Summer".

HI DERE, Sunday, 8 July 2007 01:05 (seventeen years ago)
