TS: Ice T's Iceberg/Freedom Of Speech v.s. O.G. Original Gangster

Seeing O.G. in the Return To Treasure Island part of Marooned reminded how much this album's overrating annoys me. Iceberg has the political tracks AND the funny sex raps AND the gangsta stuff AND the party tracks AND only two skits (one of which is fucking hilarious and the other is Jello Biafra over "Black Sabbath"!), all in 13 tracks. O.G. takes 24 to tell us that he WON'T do sex raps and he WON'T do party tracks but will just give us some politics (no more really than was on Iceberg, and those had better beats) some really tired gangsta stuff and a few novelties. The only songs I bothered to keep were "Mind Over Matter," "New Jack Hustler," "Bitches 2," "Lifestyles of The Rich & Infamous," "Body Count" and "The Tower." And that was being nice, cuz "Body Count" is SIX FUCKING MINUTES LONG!

So do people just rave about O.G. out of habit or do they really prefer Ice-T being all stentorian and tepid to Ice-T dishing the nasty stuff with the "young rich white kids pay attention to me!" stuff? Or have they never heard Iceberg?

Actually, I should have said "didactic" rather than "stenorian."

"stentorian," gah.

Iceberg
1. Shut Up, Be Happy
2. The Iceberg
3. Lethal Weapon
4. You Played Yourself
5. Peel Their Caps Back
6. The Girl Tried To Kill Me
7. Black 'N' Decker
8. Hit The Deck
9. This One's For Me
10. The Hunted Child
11. What Ya Wanna Do?
12. Freedom Of Speech
13. My Word Is Bond

This is probably my favorite rap album ever.

Well since lame ass sex raps are pretty much that - lame - any album that has LESS of them is already out in front. When it's also got 'Body Count', 'Home of the Bodybag', 'OG', 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Infamous' and 'The Tower' on it, it's frankly unbeatable.
