Fuck. This is cruel. I've narrowed it down to, like, three, but I'll need to come back to this.

This album is really overrated and sort of boring, though. I find Stevie's music in general to be really cheesy.

I would somewhat agree with this album being overrated, and I am a pretty big Wonder fan. To me Don't You Worry About A Thing stands far above any other song on the album.

I still think it's his "best" album, but I'll admit I like and listen to some of the others more.

I'm suspicious of anyone who doesn't think this is his best album. Talking book--no. I'm going to pick the melodramatic All in Love is Fair just for that jazzy minor key run up and down the keyboard at the end, although the midpoint where that segues into the jaunty start Don't You Worry Bout a Thing is actually my favourite bit.

Haha, well I'm suspicious of you! I rate it no higher than #3, behind "Talking Book" and "Key Of Life" (which I've owned since I was 9.)

I think this is probably his best album (but I somehow have never bought Songs in the Key of Life, not that I've never heard it, but it's been a long time since I've heard the whole thing).

I love love love the interplay of guitars in "Visions", it is a total trip. The bass is stellar, too.

I went "All in Love is Fair" but it was a crapshoot.

After further research, I have picked "Higher Ground" for rocking out like a motherfucker.

Thing. Could almost as easily have been "Golden Lady," tho. Almost. I've owned three or four copies of this one over the years, as well as the "Don't You Worry" 45.

I could probably convince myself to vote for anything on here except "Too High" and "Living for the City", but I went with "All in Love is Fair".

I think it's his best, Songs In The Key could be but there are a few clangers (as there usually are on doubles). But my actual favourite is Music Of My Mind because 'Happier Than The Morning Sun', followed by 'Superwoman' is just absolutely incredible

"Songs In The Key Of Life" would have been his best without the worst tracks. On the other hand, it's a "White Album" case in that people don't neccessarily agree which ones are the worst tracks.

For me it's a close call between "Songs In The Key.." and "Fulfillingness..." with "Talking Book" rather close behind them.

At this point, I'd probably rank Songs as the weakest, oddly enough. But even that has "Summer Soft," which is probably his best song evah.

Somewhere along the way Fulfillingness became my co-favorite with Hotter Than July.

The worst on Songs, imo, are "Joy Inside My Tears," "Love's In Need Of Love Today" and probably "Easy Goin' Evening."

... but mostly the first one.

Songs is even better when you include the bonus EP with "All Day Sucker" - it is a lot to digest in one sitting though.

To me it's first and foremost the funkiest, and it has the least ballads. I prefer his ballads to the faster stuff.

golden lady and don't you worry are amazing, but i'll plump for misstra due to its current poignant topicality.

it's kind of...ott. and yeh that's the point but it does fit with the cool/mellow/righteous funk vibe of the rest of the lp.

so for an album that has tracks that are cool, mellow, and righteous, a track thats a bit dramatic (but lyrically, still righteous) cant fit? weird.

hey its just an opinion. i find its melodrama out of place on this record. seems like a precursor to songs in the key.

whats melodramatic on songs in the key? anyway, stevie was doing melodrama (although i wouldnt put the melo in there cos the drama is very intense IMO) on talking book - songs like you and i, etc. i really adore his intensely dramatic ballads... (just my opinion of course so...)

"Joy Inside My Tears" is an excellent example. May be the best song on the entire double.

The only thing I like about that song is how the bassline sounds like it's trying to wrench itself free from the song about 10 seconds in.

I think Misstra Know It All is my favorite but the way Living for the City fades in with that Fender Rhodes (that's what it is right?) is so badass, maybe my favorite moment in his entire discog
