BEST MOTORHEAD ALBUM

Figured I'd get this one in before the Twisted Pollstarter :) Apologies if it's been done but didn't come up in Search.

I didn't include live albums cos Hammersmith would probably walk this otherwise.

Best Motörhead Album

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 15:30 (eighteen years ago)

Oh bollocks. I guess the umlaut did for me. Lock this one then.

Colonel Poo, Tuesday, 17 July 2007 15:31 (eighteen years ago)

That other poll didn't have 'No sleep' either so I didn't vote in that one too.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Sunday, 22 July 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

No Remorse is technically a compilation, so that's disqualified too.

two years pass...

no one voted in this poll anyway, but another perfect day deserves WAY more credit than it gets.

every song is crammed with great little guitar ideas, and i love the unresolved tension between robertson's melodic hard pop and lemmy & phil's thug battery. probably the only album where you really hear them pushing against the boundaries of their format.

"shine" might be my single favorite motorhead song - love the way the production echoes the rickety, compulsive on parole sound. and the spiky harmonized punctuation on the "dancing on your grave" chorus, so ridiculously uplifting, like wind-machine hair. can't think of another motorhead tune that sounds remotely like it. and "rock it", and trudging guttercrawling "one track mind" and...

wish BR had stuck around longer. loved him in thin lizzy, and every time i hear this i wonder what might have come next.

I agree, it's a terrific album, a real unique one in the discography. One of Lemmy's faves, too, he dragged out a couple tracks from it back around their 05 tour.

which ones? i'd love to hear one track mind live...

(not to change the subject, but i'm listening to the first lp now. lost johnny's so fucking great. psyche meltdown at the end always blows my mind a little.)

They played "Dancing on Your Grave" and "I Got Mine".

No Sleep til Hammersmith in a landslide.

Otherwise, I'm a 1916 guy. Talk about eclectic/experimental Motorhead.

Nate Carson, Tuesday, 15 December 2009 09:31 (sixteen years ago)

They played I Got Mine a couple of weeks ago at Hammersmith Apollo.

Here he is with the classic "Poème Électronique." Good track (Marcello Carlin), Tuesday, 26 February 2013 18:59 (thirteen years ago)

can't believe iron fist didn't get any votes. def way more better songs on that than overkill (though title track on that is Motorhead's best song).

Spectrum, Tuesday, 26 February 2013 19:02 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, "Iron Fist" has 12 songs, "Overkill" only 10.
