Sky Cries Mary: C/D?

I had assumed that there was already a thread about this, but extensive searches revealed nothing.

I guess I can't really call them classic OR dud, since I never got really into them enough to have really strong feelings, but they seem pretty interesting, and certainly deserving of a wider audience than they seem to have. Like a beat-crazy Cranes or something, and they remind me of late-period Swans in ways that I can't really describe. Maybe I'm missing some historical context but I don't know of many American bands who so thoroughly accepted the influence of rave music/"philosophy," certainly none who ever wrote an acrostic paean to Ecstacy ("Moon Dream Meadow Allegory").

No takers on this one, eh? I liked the EP that MDMA is on, the full-length after that prattled on FAR too long, never heard a thing since. I would pick up a copy of "Until The Grinders Cease" if I found it cheap, though.

Interviewed 'em once, saw them back in the midnineties for something, I forget once. Good enough band, friendly folks.

I had a post I thought I'd made here... guess I didn't.

This Timeless Turning was great but I didn't like anything else I heard by them.

They had one great tune that is still in my head "The Elephant Song" or something.

Yeah, "Elephant Song" is on that first EP with MDMA; cool song. I need to dig that out.

three years pass...

"Rain" is such a jam.

this band is due for a revival, 1st 3 records are all very solid.

That would be nice. I only have "Return to the Inner Experience," which I really dig...I don't know if thee others are out of print or what, but they're hard to track down. Maybe I will have to resort to ordering them on Amazon.

four years pass...

This Timeless Turning is still a lot of fun IMO

"Vuh" is gorgeous, probably my favorite song of theirs

did you ever get to hear A Return To The Inner Experience? also very worthwhile imo

sleeve, Friday, 7 August 2015 16:47 (ten years ago)

I couldn't get into that one. Granted, I think I only listened to it once.

I think i got pretty much everything by them from Demonoid a couple months back. Not sure they'd still be up might be able to help seed though.
Had Timeless Turning on cd after finding it in a sale mid 90s.
Apparently they formed as Neubauten fans.
They also elected to cover We Will Fall on a Stooges tribute which is an interesting choice.

Stevolende, Friday, 7 August 2015 17:02 (ten years ago)

yes, that cover is also on Return..., I love it
