i used to think myself an ardent keeper-upper of NME bands (BP, AM, KLX, MP, FH, CRBS, etc.) but someone explain to me who the fuck these people are and if they are worth a sliver of my time:

The Enemy
The Gallows
Biffy Clyro
The Pigeon Detectives
The Wombats
The Automatic
Little Man Tate

The Automatic suck. Don't know the others. A friend of mine who likes bad emo music likes Biffy Clyro, they've been around for years though.

"What's that coming over the hill, is it a monster...."

That's the Automatic.

The Automatic were in the class of 2006, their album came out last year and they had a huge hit with 'Monster' in 2006 too.

biffy clyro? 2007? some mistake?

i like the wombats

the wombats might turn out to be fun in a supergrassy funny way. little man tate were great fun live the last time i saw them but the album's dry as fuck. gallows mean it maaan and are only NME by the skin of NME's teeth. biffy have, as has been said, been around for ever but NME is now taking notice because they've got a huge fucking fanbase without an awful lot of "industry" help. they suck a bit unless you like emo.

fuck the rest of 'em.

in regards to this i wasn't claiming necessarily that these bands were new, just that they got the big NME push this year, which is true for Biffy Clyro.

same with the gallows... NME is all fucking over them. i couldn't tell if though if NME was jumping on some "real" punk band or if it was all a bunch of posing. (and yes i'm aware of the problems with using those terms.)
