I wanted a thread specific to this album.
I'm getting really into it. I've had it for years, but years ago I was slightly disappointed by it. Maybe just cuz it was different from the Belly stuff. Now tho, I think I'd rather put this on. Some of the ambient tracks are so lush in that spacey way, beautiful.
Beautysleep was definitely way too polished, but this feels like a great mix of Belly and Tan's own thing.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: In My Top Favorite Albums of All Time, September 5, 2006 By Ms. Renee S. Jonard (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews I really love this album. It's got a really good flow; it's rocking and melancholy. Tanya Donelly has great vocals. I think it's a timeless album and she's a great musician.

"The Bright Lights" and "Landspeed Song" are both pretty grebt. Haven't heard the rest in a while. But "Now They'll Sleep" came up on my iPod at lunch!

You know how I feel about the Muses and Belly, but I lose interest in Donnelly when she forswore the energy and tension of being in a band.

can somebody please listen to Acrobat right now, either loud on good speakers or on good headphones, and please let me know what u think? Please?
I couldn't have reacted more differently to this when it came out (omg 10 YEARS AGO)... but i just listened to it and heard a songwriter at the heights of her prowess. which i know sounds slightly ridiculous but that's the thing, i'm shocked and overjoyed. i feel like i've found this little piece of the puzzle i had forgotten about for years.

The b-sides from the singles are all great as a companion piece. "Moon Over Boston" is particularly gorgeous.

Pretty Deep is an absolutely amazing, gorgeous single. And the lyrics on the album are on a par with the best of Star. Great stuff.
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 04:24 (eighteen years ago)
fully agreed on both points
