man Time Out Of Mind sounds so good tonight; hot as fuck (qua northern Europe so no a/c), twelve minutes into "Highlands": it's zing after zing and the zing's mostly on him (the "I'd trade places with any of them" line e.g.) and I can just imagine the band going, "haha it's one of these" (thinking of "New Danville Girl", "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands", you get the deal): would like to listen really closely and see if I can pick out little details, the way that if you sit in the hot air with the insects buzzing you eventually single out slight modulations.

favorite story about "highlands" is when someone asked Bob if he'd release a short version of the song. dylan says: "that is the short version!"
