What do you listen to as you're getting ready to go out?

Lately Janet's CONTROL has been my fix. Usually something upbeat, I guess, though not necessarily - and not necessarily pop-driven.

always something electric and dancey, most times a mix. I listened to todd terje's 'ironkuru' last night, had to TEAR myself from the last 10 minutes of it to meet my friends.

yea i'm usually down with the electric and dancey too

Surmounter, Sunday, 22 July 2007 23:42 (nineteen years ago)

i'm a homebody so I consciously give myself a kick in the ass to make it out the door. metal would work too probably but i hardly have any.

tremendoid, Sunday, 22 July 2007 23:46 (nineteen years ago)

word i was thinking of heavy stuff that could work as well, but i don't have any either. um, yeah.

Playing music to psyche myself up for going out wouldn't work, as I'd quickly remember that spinning records and getting drunk at home >>>>> hanging out in some smokey bar.

smokey bar

yeah sounds like it's been a while for you...

It depends on where I'm going/what I plan to do. I tend to use the music to set my swagger for the evening. Something jazzy that makes me nod my head is good when I need to feel sophisticated, early 90s rap or hard bop shit work well for that.

xpost actually i'd probably still be smoking if not for the smoking bans(a great disincentive for "social smokers"), but I do miss the dirty air when i drink.

recently, i've been listening to a lot more pop before i leave the house, and then techno from 'the shuffle' in the car. works nicely.

I don't really "go out" (assuming you mean going out to clubs). But if I did, Pink's "Get the Party Started," probably.

Tape Store, Monday, 23 July 2007 01:11 (nineteen years ago)

welll not necessarily clubs, just like bars and places where ur friends meet up, even their houses. just anytime u go out at night to have fun :-)

"Paranoia" and "Eclipse" by Apoptygma Bezerk, and "Join in the Chant" by Nitzer Ebb. I like to get my gothdance booty on around the living room.

I used to - as a ritual influenced by moderate-severe OCD - listen to perfect kiss by New Order before I left on any trip.

But trips aren't just out. I used to also always listen to I Look into MId Air by rex The Dog for it's high hype-up value.

mehlt, Monday, 23 July 2007 03:08 (nineteen years ago)

I used to crank Justified lots before a big night on the tune. My inner indie-boy has taken over though since then, so I just put on some Electrelane or Kate Bush or whatever.
