Those guys don't look too bad. I'm off to have a couple drinks at my corner bar, and I'm sure I'll see much worse there.

Check out the pics on the sleeve of BOC's first alb if you want hairy.

ah, steppenwolf. explains why it was in the dollar section (not to discredit music in dollar sections, just they're not super rare). what record is that from?

jaxon, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:31 (eighteen years ago)

Magic Carpet Ride IS pretty epic actually

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 24 July 2007 22:33 (eighteen years ago)

Primal Scream!

No wait...

Masonic Boom, Wednesday, 25 July 2007 13:59 (eighteen years ago)

I always had this totally uninformed, very possibly wrongheaded image of Steppenwolf as being a bunch of cynical fux capitalizing on psychedelia. Their lyrics always sound ultra-contrived to me and the singer looks like a douche.

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 25 July 2007 14:05 (eighteen years ago)

Yes he does indeed! (which one's the singer?)

StanM, Wednesday, 25 July 2007 14:06 (eighteen years ago)

Not to say that opportunism never produced great singles, of course.

Hurting 2, Wednesday, 25 July 2007 14:09 (eighteen years ago)

steppenwolf have more than a few totally fucking killer jams

pretzel walrus, Wednesday, 25 July 2007 14:11 (eighteen years ago)

Look at them, they think they're Monster Magnet!

StanM, Wednesday, 25 July 2007 14:14 (eighteen years ago)

their Pusherman song is genius

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 25 July 2007 15:50 (eighteen years ago)

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 25 July 2007 15:51 (eighteen years ago)

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 26 July 2007 05:14 (eighteen years ago)

In the Neil Young biography, "Shakey", Neil Young attributes his guitar style to the influence of John Kay [of Steppenwolf]. Young and Kay are both Canadians. Former founding Steppenwolf member Goldy McJohn once played in a band with Young and Rick James known as The Mynah Birds.

filthy dylan, Thursday, 26 July 2007 05:22 (eighteen years ago)

didn't a couple of songs by them wind up on some box set?

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Thursday, 26 July 2007 06:51 (eighteen years ago)

I think that's from the inside gatefold of Monster, but I haven't held a copy of that record in my hands in over 25 years.

Nubbelverbrennung, Thursday, 26 July 2007 07:19 (eighteen years ago)

there are a couple of Mynah Birds singles on the Motown Box Set
