Is this a drug awareness thread?

I think that if I ever met a person who really, honestly, sincerely, thought that song was the best song ever...I'd probably laugh harder than I've ever laughed, or just put a Colt revolver in my mouth and go bye-bye.

So if I told you that my wife's favourite song of all time was "Nothing's gonna stop us" by Starship, you'd probably run to the hills? Yes? Well how do you think I feel about being married to a woman who likes such crap? And she's not being ironic either - "I like the words, they're meaningful".

Sigh.

It's a good sing-along type of song...I prefer "nothing's gonna stop us now" though.

Don't forget "Sara"!

In elementary school, the cheerleader squad did a routine to "We Builty This City" with fake building blocks and the like. It was most triumphant and inspiring.

They were not as good as Sparkle Motion, tho.

Trying to trace a line from "After Bathing at Baxter's" to that nonsense makes my brain hurt. Both Paul and Grace are on the later tune I'm pretty sure. Blech, what idiots.

Yeah, everyone should be aware that (Jefferson) Starship made cruddy records when their drug of choice was Cocaine. Everyone should also be aware that they made much better music on acid.

"Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" was our graduation song, but if the topic ever comes up I try to get our of it by saying I flunked that year.

It's 4 20=you are stoned korekt?

I guess only in US, everywhere else it's 20 4!

Paul Kantner gives that song one middle finger up, way, way up!, you know...

The line, "knee deep in the hoopla" is very very funny to 5 and 6 year old girls when they don't understand any of the other words in the song.

That was one of the first albums we owned when i was little--my sister's name is Sarah so my mom bought it for the "storms are brew-in' in your eyes" son

Wa-hey, Laurie's back. :-)

Ned Raggett, Monday, 22 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

question: who is "mahoney" and what is the musical style "mamba" that he supposedly plays?

Tracer Hand, Monday, 22 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No, but I do like that "Miracles" song, indefensible though that may be.

DeRayMi, Monday, 22 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

At least Airplane founding member Marty Balin sang it.

Sean, Monday, 22 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

"Miracles" is a great song, far from indefensible. So is follow-up single choice "With Your Love".

Joe, Tuesday, 23 April 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

They desperately need a reevaluation in the light of new evidence, viz: Jimmy Eat World's The Middle, which is simultaneously the last great rock song and (secretly) We Built This City.
