Best song on Fleetwood "Mirage"

Since this one hasn't been done yet and I have been listening to it constantly this week um... How's about it?

At the moment I'm undecided between Eyes Of the World and Hold Me. But if it looks like I'd be the only one, I might give Oh Diane a token vote.

"Hold Me", duh .. it's the best single of all time

Stormy Davis, Friday, 27 July 2007 17:48 (eighteen years ago)

Well, there's that. ; )

"Gypsy" just because I love Lindsey's guitar arpeggios in the bridge. And the three overlapping guitar parts at the end. "Hold Me" a close second.

Heh heh, wondered how many folks's post before Stormy chimed in! (Expected a low number, not necessarily zero.)

Myonga Vön Bontee, Friday, 27 July 2007 19:43 (eighteen years ago)

yeah "Hold Me" is pretty perfect

Dominique, Friday, 27 July 2007 19:45 (eighteen years ago)

No one talks much about the album tracks here, no?

As a soft-rock song with surprising propulsion and force, "Love in Store" is pretty great. Lindsay did a great "Eyes of the World" on the last tour.

i do like "empire state" a lot. :-)

still voted for "hold me," just because.

I've always wondered who are those men with whom Christine co-wrote most of her songs on this album.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 27 July 2007 23:57 (eighteen years ago)

I love this album so much.

I'm tempted to vote for "Book of Love" at the moment, but that will probably change - but my favourites generally are that, "Hold Me", "Eyes of the World" and "Gypsy".

The only songs I would be unlikely to vote for in any mood are "Oh Diane", "Wish You Were Here" and "Straight Back" - and of those only the first is actually skippable in my opinion.

Can't Go Back is my favorite overlooked FM song, but "Hold Me" and "Gypsy" are hard to top.

Fitzcarraldo, Saturday, 28 July 2007 02:59 (eighteen years ago)

Whoever shortened Gypsy to a "single version" should be shot.

I am perhaps being a bit of a dick, but I always assumed they were boyfriends, Alfred. They were that kind of band tho. Always with the damn boyfriends and girlfriends. When I first read that writing credit I thought of JOHN McVie actually, no idea why... oh wait those MANLY backing vox on the leadin to the chorus, that'll be it.

i actually downloaded most of the Robbie Patton album off of SLSK like 5 years ago ... it was slow going cuz I could only find one guy who had it, and his cxn was SLOOOOOWWW. Anyway, it was just AOR stuff. not 'hold me'-lvl transcendence, unfortunately. but yeah I had the same curiousity....

Stormy Davis, Sunday, 29 July 2007 06:54 (eighteen years ago)

"I am perhaps being a bit of a dick, but I always assumed they were boyfriends, Alfred"

At first I thought you meant that Christine had found a gay couple and co-wrote a song with each of them apiece.

ILX System, Thursday, 2 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

I've been listening to this off and on all week since the poll began, and now I really wish I could change my vote to "Book of Love."

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 2 August 2007 23:17 (eighteen years ago)

ILX System, Friday, 3 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Is this first time in one of these poles in which the two big singles won?

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 3 August 2007 23:10 (eighteen years ago)

Top four songs is spot on.

Tim F, Friday, 3 August 2007 23:59 (eighteen years ago)

But no "Love in Store" :(

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Saturday, 4 August 2007 03:49 (eighteen years ago)

This would be how i'd rank the album right now:

Book of Love
Hold Me
Eyes of the World
Gypsy
Can't Go Back
That's Alright
Love In Store
Empire State
Only Over You
Straight Back
Wish You Were Here
Oh Diane

Tim F, Saturday, 4 August 2007 04:29 (eighteen years ago)

Poor Oh Diane.

I know, right?, Sunday, 5 August 2007 02:35 (eighteen years ago)

I don't even dislike it now. But this is a pretty strong album overall - it feels weird, for example, putting "Straight Back" so far down in the list, given how much I love the last third or so in particular.

Tim F, Sunday, 5 August 2007 04:15 (eighteen years ago)

In the eyes in the eyes in the eyes of the world.
