On first listen there's nothing which stands out like 'Bottle Rocket' for instance but it's another blast of sunshine. No sophomore slump here. I presume they must have a long term forcast at it's a classic summer album and it's not released until September.

Maybe they timed it to release when school starts.

three weeks pass...

anyone happen to know which tracks solex (liesbeth esselink) sings on? she supposedly recorded vocals for two, but I haven't discovered her voice yet in the tracks I've heard so far.

stirmonster, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 10:56 (eighteen years ago)

It's very enjoyable but in some way manages to be exactly the same as the first one.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 11:59 (eighteen years ago)

I'm OK with that, I like the 1st one a lot. I don't mind if bands keep redoing the same stuff as long as it is good.

Only heard one song by Solex but I liked that a lot. Can't remember what it was called now though :(

Colonel Poo, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 12:35 (eighteen years ago)

(solex all lickety split?)

koogs, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 12:53 (eighteen years ago)

Is it as fucking trebly as the last one? I did a very simple batch EQ tweak to that album and it sounds a zillion times better.

Hate to be a traitor to my town an' all but these buggers just don't do it for me. Just like CSS, even though I know the songs are pretty good they just leave me a bit meh,

Uptoeleven, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 19:14 (eighteen years ago)

fuck them for drowning out chuck d in the mix

and what, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)

I've heard one song so far (don't recall the name) and it did sound pretty trebley actually. It's exactly the same as their usual schtick. I'm hoping the album will be varied as I enjoyed that old song or theirs with the Beach Boys sample a lot more. Later on I listened to the Age of Chance song "Hold On" and it's just such an exciting, bombastic singalong of shouts, crescendos and chants that I decided the Go Team will NEVER come close.

but damn ..

I'm listening to this for the first time now. It basically sounds EXACTLY like the first album; I'm not hearing anything that strikes me as a really new sound for them. Also, yes, TREBLE.

Clay, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

WHERE IS THE LOW END GUYS.

Clay, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 21:13 (eighteen years ago)

Is there anything like "Hold Yr Terror Close"? 'Cause my inner-twee want some of that.

Tape Store, Monday, 27 August 2007 02:51 (eighteen years ago)

And I've had "The Wrath of Marcie" for a long time, but my version is called "The Wrath of Mikey." HMMM....

Tape Store, Monday, 27 August 2007 02:53 (eighteen years ago)

oops, mikey doesn't have vocals.

Great album cover!

Terrible album cover! As if we didn't have enough indie/emo bands with "Wolf" in their names...and now it's time to feature wolves on album covers? Gimme a break.

stephen, Monday, 27 August 2007 03:10 (eighteen years ago)

C'mon! The wolf isn't even the dominant element (the racer is). When I look at the cover, I don't think 'wolf,' I think 'POWER!' and 'FUN!' which is, like, the definition of The Go! Team. My favorite part is definitely the name (I used to spell things with masking tape, too, when I owned The Tape Store).

Besides, this isn't indie rock/emo...it's Pop-Collage-Funk-Hop! The album cover encapsulates their entire sound! WAHOO!

Tape Store, Monday, 27 August 2007 03:29 (eighteen years ago)

Hm... I absolutely love(d) the first album, and I am totally underwhelmed by this. Same collage effects, absolutely no feeling. (I hate to say it, but I think it's partially because of the need to give Ninja more input in the songwriting process.)

mitya, Monday, 27 August 2007 07:31 (eighteen years ago)

Wait that was actually the real Chuck D on this?

Matt DC, Monday, 27 August 2007 12:26 (eighteen years ago)
