My vote for "Woodface", which may be a possible winner. Considering this is ILM, it may also be that the partly trip-hop-tinged "Try Whistling This" wins though. And there may also be some Split Enz fans hijacking the poll. Time will show.

ALT easy (not really)

This is incredibly difficult, but I had to go One Nil.

Liam Finn >>>>>>>>> Tim Finn >>>>>>>>> Neil Finn

You are absolutely insane.

Neil Finn is atrociously boring, 28years of being a New Zealander has taught me this. Liam, however, is a damn fine musician, songwriter and entertainer. Tim wrote (and sung) the best Split Enz songs, so he's in the middle.

I'm 29, I win

President Evil, Monday, 30 July 2007 06:18 (eighteen years ago)

i love a good pissing contest

Neil Finn is the greatest pop songwriter of the past 30 years and that's a fact.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Together Alone is my choice, such a wonderful set of songs.

How did I miss this poll? And how did the Split Enz albums get a total zero votes? WORLD GONE MAD

And how did the Split Enz albums get a total zero votes?

They didn't. "Time And Tide" (their worst album IMO) got three.

(True Colours" may have deserved a few votes though - represents Tim Finn's best ever album as a songwriter - "Poor Boy" and "I Hope I Never" remain the two best songs ever written by Tim Finn)

And.. The stuff I've heard by Liam Finn seems nice enough. I see no particular reason why ILM'ers should prefer him other than age though. ILM's ageismn is old news after all.

\CRAZY TALK

Tim Finn's best collection of Enz-songs are probably on Dizrythmia - "Charlie" is about ONE ZILLION times better than "Poor Boy," which barely makes it based on Eddie Rayner's keyboard riff, and "Another Great Divide" and "Without A Doubt" are both better ballads than "I Hope I Never." But even his earlier Judd co-compositions "Titus" and "Spellbound" completely thrash the two songs you mentioned. Hell, "Shark Attack" from True Colors is *far* better than "Poor Boy"!

And that doesn't even mention the Tim songs on "Time and Tide"! I can't believe you (of all people!) don't grok the brilliance of "Six Months in a Leaky Boat," Geir!

I do, but I dislike the rest of the "Time And Tide" album, which is too weird and has the vocals way too behind in the mix.

And note that I prefer Neil anyway. Tim's best collection of songs other than "True Colours" is IMO his 1989 "Tim Finn" album, which is a great album in the same style as Crowded House.

rubbish poll - not nearly enough votes to be meaningful

mitya, Saturday, 4 August 2007 22:36 (eighteen years ago)

I would have voted had Geir not fucked with the nomenclature.
