So many classic interviews and performances...John Lennon, Johnny Rotten, The Plasmatics, the list goes on and on.

Aw man. I watched his show up until 2000 or whenever it was that it went off the air. He wasn't the cleverest or most hard-hitting but he was always keen, and always put the spotlight on his interviewee and what they had to say, and almost always fun to watch and listen to. He had that hard sparkle of glee and interest in his eye right up to the end.

I'll never forget the Rolling Stones appearance on SNL to promote "Some Girls" and Jagger riffing with Dan Aykroyd (playing Snyder) about all the different colors in his hair.

Looking back at the Johnny Rotten interview, I wish Snyder had just put up his hands in mock terror and said, "Oooh, you're so punk!"

I love the Clash interview, where they start off all posing and dour, and he gradually gets them to warm up to him.

Aw, this is a shame. He once asked Elvis C. if he got along with his dad!

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Monday, 30 July 2007 19:45 (eighteen years ago)
