The new Octave One album "Off the Grid" is pretty much all I want from techno: http://www.juno.co.uk/products/269388-01.htm

"The Third Degree", "Empower" and "Rock My Dub" are killing me! I wish I heard more of this out.

They were awesome at DEMF this year too.

Naw, that crap is so 2006. Didn't you read that balearic beat and hip house are the new hot shit in 2007.

Display Name, Friday, 3 August 2007 05:47 (eighteen years ago)

nobody cares about hip-house. Their loss.

'Jaguar Woman' is the best Detroit Techno track i've heard in the last year and it was made by a woman from Bradford!

blueski, Friday, 3 August 2007 10:50 (eighteen years ago)

oh sorry that's her artist name - track is 'Dance Of Energies'

It's all about Omar-S for me right now, also that Motorcitysoul "Housemusic" ep is good.

Also, I think Convextion sounds very Detroit-ish although he's Texan.

saudade, Saturday, 4 August 2007 03:43 (eighteen years ago)

chaki, Saturday, 4 August 2007 10:29 (eighteen years ago)

Nice! I would say that The Scene was more like Detroit's Soul Train, while The New Dance Show was more like Detroit's Solid Gold. But that's just me. R.J. Watkins in the house!

henry s, Thursday, 3 May 2012 01:43 (thirteen years ago)

haha that's what i get for swiping my descriptions from elsewhere!!

check out the other uploads from that user, they are ALL amazing

Good times, all those clips. I've been seeing a lot of fades and flat-tops lately, which must surely mean we're on the verge of some kind of late-80's/early 90's revival. I hope dance lines come back too!

Terrence Dixon is a major flag-bearer of Detroit excellence, well worth checking out.

random anecdote: I was at a conference in San Francisco for work around 2005ish, and as I was checking out of my hotel, there was this guy next to me at the front desk checking in, and he mentioned he was booked to play a show. It was Kenny Larkin! I was tempted to delay my departure but I had plans
