Just wondering a bit about HDCD.
Exactly what is HDCD and why does it (or is it supposed to) sound better? How much better will a HDCD remaster be when compared to, say, a pre-HDCD remaster from the mid 90s? Do 90s CDs benefit much from HDCD remastering? And how early in the 90s? How about 00s CDs, such as the upcoming remaster of Depeche Mode's "Exciter" - may there possibly be anything gained from the remastering at all?

OK. Seems like my question was more about 20 (or 24) bit remastering than about HDCD then.
