I love "Can You Get to That" most of all.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 5 August 2007 14:05 (eighteen years ago)

'hit it & quit it', but that instrumental of 'i wanna know if it's good to you' is SIIIIIICK.

haitch, Sunday, 5 August 2007 15:11 (eighteen years ago)

Hmm I seem to have missed this. "I Got A Thing" I guess.

Herman G. Neuname, Sunday, 5 August 2007 20:18 (eighteen years ago)

"Loose Booty" for me. That guitar!

Matos W.K., Sunday, 5 August 2007 21:17 (eighteen years ago)

Harold Beane came up with that Loose Booty guitar action.

scott seward, Sunday, 5 August 2007 21:48 (eighteen years ago)

i hitted it then quitted it. i could've gone for "can you get to that" or "you and your folks." or even "red hot mama," but i think that's probably the remake and i like the version on rhenium/osmium/first thangs better, with the slow chorus.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Monday, 6 August 2007 00:18 (eighteen years ago)

i can't choose between you and your folks, can you get to that, and funky dollar bill. i dunno, i could pick any one of a dozen.

scott seward, Monday, 6 August 2007 00:21 (eighteen years ago)

HIT IT AND QUIT IT

Whiney G. Weingarten, Monday, 6 August 2007 01:48 (eighteen years ago)

Can You Get To That.

xhuxk, Monday, 6 August 2007 01:51 (eighteen years ago)

But wait, this isn't all the Funkadelic singles, right? Just the ones on that compilation (which I've never heard, though I've heard most of its songs)?

xhuxk, Monday, 6 August 2007 01:52 (eighteen years ago)

it's every single on Westbound.

scott seward, Monday, 6 August 2007 01:55 (eighteen years ago)

"Biological Speculation" for the block, please.

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 06:11 (eighteen years ago)

Hit it and Quit It is indescribably awesome.

Bill Magill, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 13:31 (eighteen years ago)

Funkadelic is indescribably awesome.

Noodle Vague, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 16:57 (eighteen years ago)

I Wanna Know If It's Good to You, I guess, but there's a handful that I all rate as basically perfect

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 17:00 (eighteen years ago)

"Funkadelic is indescribably awesome."

They have some dogshit too, but nobody can bat 1.000. They get close though.

Bill Magill, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)

What a difficult choice. I have gone for Fish, Chips and Sweat. About two thirds of them are as good as each other, as far as I'm concerned.

PJ Miller, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 19:07 (eighteen years ago)

Its a little odd that the A-sides are listed separately from the B-sides here

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

Strange thing: Many of these singles combine A's and B's from two different albums.

"Cosmic Slop" b/w "If You Don't Like The Effects..." is just about the most perfect sum-total pairing I can imagine right at this moment. But really, I can't say anything bad about Westbound-era Funkadelic at all.

Myonga Vön Bontee, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 19:57 (eighteen years ago)

I wonder what a corresponding list of the Warner Bros singles would look like (besides being a lot shorter)

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 19:59 (eighteen years ago)

Shame that early tv footage of youtube isn't there anymore.

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 22:41 (eighteen years ago)

there's a sizable chunk of it in the PBS documentary, which IS on youtube

Shakey Mo Collier, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 22:44 (eighteen years ago)

Shakey are you going to do another Parliament albums poll?

Herman G. Neuname, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 22:46 (eighteen years ago)

Funky Dollar Bill.

Stormy Davis, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 05:26 (eighteen years ago)

I voted Loose Booty, but this is where polls fail

Dominique, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 05:29 (eighteen years ago)

'Loose Booty' is an amazing track ... on the album version, with the completely wigged-out Bernie solo. The cut down single seems kinda 'eh' in comparision, right? it's just kinda a funk vamp, without the wigginess or beauty of some of the other options. to me.

Stormy Davis, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 05:37 (eighteen years ago)

I forget what was wrong with the other Parliament poll

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

It lasted 3 hours

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 16:02 (eighteen years ago)

oh, right.

Shakey Mo Collier, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 16:10 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Wednesday, 8 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Thursday, 9 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

I voted for "Funky Dollar Bill", but I'm surprised "Standing On The Verge" didn't get more love. Is it the Red Hot Chili Pepper's fault?

Alex in SF, Thursday, 9 August 2007 23:06 (eighteen years ago)

did they cover that? I love that song

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 9 August 2007 23:25 (eighteen years ago)
