certainly Jane for me. best cover art ever.

I taped Collision Time Revisited off the copy at my college radio station and haven't ever looked back. I wish that one was still in print. One of the best band anthologies ever, imo.

Jane from Occupied Europe is a masterpiece. including the cover.

I find their catalogue confusing. What's on those last couple of compilations not found on the expanded CD versions of their albums, and is it critical to own?

Mr. Odd, Tuesday, 7 August 2007 21:30 (eighteen years ago)

marineville by a long way. it has all the weirdness plus the winning sing-along numbers.

Sweep the Desert does seem extraneous if you've got the albums.
Collision Time Revisited is the Mute 2lp anthology that Epic Soundtracks compiled and Thurston Moore wrote the liner notes for. I guess I started this thread to talk about that record. It's got all the best parts of all the other records and Read About Seymour and Let's Build a Car and an incredible sleeve...I just think it rules and wish I could find a copy of it.

A year ago I could have reeled this answer right off, now I can only remember that there's a side project single on "International Rescue" that isn't anywhere else (and that I still haven't heard!). IIRC Sweep The Desert has no otherwise unavailable material. Their discog is hideously confusing, the different editions all have different bonus tracks AND different mastering as well.

And Marineville is my favorite by a long shot.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Monday, 13 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

Aren't the first two the only proper answers? ie. not comps?

S-, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 04:31 (eighteen years ago)

International Rescue has some fucking awesome songs on it, but scant information regarding who did them. At *least* two aren't Swell Maps, but other projects.

S-, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

xpost. Yeah, these are all comps or odds'n'ends collections except Jane and Marineville. We should just choose between those two because International Rescue is the best compilation anyway.

I don't remember this poll getting that many results!
It's really hard for me to choose between Jane and Marineville, tbh.
