"raise up" if it weren't for the inclusion of the inane all cities remix. in any event, i voted "rollout"

Jordan Sargent, Thursday, 9 August 2007 06:54 (eighteen years ago)

wow, this is AWFUL.

Pink, but i mean... oh jeez.

Stevie D, Thursday, 9 August 2007 06:56 (eighteen years ago)

I have to go with Brit Brit this time.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 9 August 2007 06:58 (eighteen years ago)

Voted Pink. Mainly because it's Pink, and because one single later she helped change teenpop for the better.

Shakira = fourth-tier pop music

Curt1s Stephens, Thursday, 9 August 2007 17:54 (eighteen years ago)

Pretty frontloaded...nothing very good after track 9. I can't pick between "Family Affair" and "Whenever, Wherever". "Whenever, Wherever" by a hair, I guess.

What's wrong with you people?! BRITNEY!

This is one of the better comps -- the first half, that is. The last half has U2's well-titled and themed farewell to memorable songwriting to recommend it.

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Saturday, 11 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

I'm A Slave 4 U no question.

Alba, Sunday, 12 August 2007 10:31 (eighteen years ago)

Why does no one else remember and love "Lights Camera Action"? I heard the sample somewhere once where it jumped out at me, not too long after the song came out, but where i cannot remember.

1. Mr. Cheeks : "Lights, Camera, Action!"
2. Ludacris : "Rollout (My Business)"
3. Mary J. Blige : "Family Affair"
4. Britney Spears : "I'm A Slave 4 U"
5. Ginuwine : "Differences"

The Reverend, Sunday, 12 August 2007 11:16 (eighteen years ago)

1. *NSYNC - "Gone"
2. Nelly Furtado - "Turn Off the Lights"
3. Petey Pablo - "Raise Up" <<< again, would be #1 if it weren't the edited All Cities version
4. Britney Spears - "I'm a Slave 4 U"
5. City High - "Caramel"

Tape Store, Sunday, 12 August 2007 13:42 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, I didn't even notice "Lights, Camera, Action"! It samples "Keep On Truckin'," which is genius and deserves our immense respect.

musically, Sunday, 12 August 2007 18:13 (eighteen years ago)

Petey Pablo - "Raise Up" <<< again, would be #1 if it weren't the edited All Cities version

It could have been worse...it could have been that version he did for 9/11.

musically, Sunday, 12 August 2007 18:19 (eighteen years ago)

This one is HARD!

Britney Spears : "I'm A Slave 4 U"
Shakira : "Whenever, Wherever"
Ludacris : "Rollout (My Business)"

^^^^ I still get really excited when ANY of these comes on, radio, playlist, club, karaoke, whatever. Wow. I'm really going to have to eeny-meeny this one out.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 12 August 2007 19:12 (eighteen years ago)

Oh, and I remember "Lights, Camera, Action," I just never liked it very much. The "Ms. Jackson" reference in the chorus seemed really hokey to me.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 12 August 2007 22:43 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Sunday, 12 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

The "Ms. Jackson" line is hokey. It is also great.

Oh, I didn't even notice "Lights, Camera, Action"! It samples "Keep On Truckin'," which is genius and deserves our immense respect.

Aha! That's it. Thank you.

The Reverend, Sunday, 12 August 2007 23:22 (eighteen years ago)

Sad winner. "I'm a Slave For You" was the beginning of the end for Miss Spears.
