how do they do it?

how often do they DJ?

are they "big names"?

what kind of music do they play?

did they have to change the style of music they play to appease the masses (ie, play more hiphop/pop hits?)

what city are they located in?

yes, by making a name with popular records and through agents, every weekend on average, yes and no, techno, no, doesn't matter.

i did it for a couple years in the 90s. i practically starved to death though. it was a lot different back then(no free music to download). Even with all the promo records i used to hound for it was still expensive keeping up with all the latest releases, which you had to do in order to stay relevant and current. it was good times living the nocturnal rave/club life but it was tough. i give props to anybody who can pull it off and make a decent living at it.

Several million wedding DJs to thread (incl. gygax! RIP).

That entails schlepping around all that equipment. Those guys get extra props!

Oh actually I know hip hop DJs who live off of it too, depending on the club they have to play a measure of current hits -within that style- but they enjoy doing it regardless.

Would be better as a Red Meat cartoon.

Full disclosure, I made a living only on others' DJing for a year or so 5 years ago. Wasn't greedy & crabby enough to remain a booking agent tho
