songs that don't really change at all but are continually engaging and always surprise you by ending

Pete Heller - "Big Love"

"Big Love" changes big time. It breaks down to almost nothing but vocal and then builds back up to a big gay climax. Great track, though.

I honestly cannot think of one single house track that fits the requirements. The closest I can come up with right now is Cajmere's "Percolator." But that changes a bit here and there. And the ending, while pretty abrupt, is not all that surprising.

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

i mean, the tracks i put fit the criteria as i envisioned it. changes in filtering fit what i'm talking about, but break downs and dramatic climaxes don't.

elan, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 04:42 (eighteen years ago)

i was listening to quadrant dub the other night and dozed off. when it ended i woke with a start.

elan, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 04:43 (eighteen years ago)

most Paperclip People tracks

blunt, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 08:39 (eighteen years ago)

Any tune on Burger/Ink's Las Vegas.

Tuomas, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 08:44 (eighteen years ago)

Oooh, just heard clips of omar-s - just ask the lonely and ron trent & chez damier - morning factory (dubplate). Definitely not my kinda thing. I prefer my house shifting gears as often as possible. In fact, I prefer my EVERYTHING like that.

Still, "Percolator" fits if you don't mind the intrusion of the human voice. Same with Detroit Grand Pubahs: "Sandwiches."

Also, Phuture: "Acid Trax."

And most anything by Ricardo Villalobos.

Kevin John Bozelka, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 09:27 (eighteen years ago)

Luciano - "Octogonal"

matt2, Tuesday, 14 August 2007 13:55 (eighteen years ago)

Is there a thread for really long house tracks? Benjamin Diamond's "Inner Cycle" is seventeen minutes and awesome, but it changes a bit in the middle.

todd, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 19:35 (eighteen years ago)

good call on those moodymann picks. it's been a long time since i've heard either of those and they both popped into my head upon reading the titles. subliminal.

tricky, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 19:40 (eighteen years ago)

rollin' and scratchin'

henry s, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 19:41 (eighteen years ago)

I'd like to hear a forevermix of "Two Months Off".

roxymuzak, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 19:45 (eighteen years ago)

Green Velvet - La La Land (Francois Kevorkian remix)

rockapads, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 20:38 (eighteen years ago)

""Big Love" changes big time."

I missed the part where it says the track doesn't change. I guess i was just thinking about the end going on and on which "Big Love" certainly could. I also don't see how it's particularly "gay", but whatever.

Spencer Chow, Wednesday, 15 August 2007 21:06 (eighteen years ago)

morning factory is definitely the ultimate example of this

practically anything on melchior production's 'the meaning'

resolved, Thursday, 16 August 2007 06:57 (eighteen years ago)

and by the original criteria my moodymann pick would be i can't kick this feeling when it hits

resolved, Thursday, 16 August 2007 06:58 (eighteen years ago)

I also don't see how it's particularly "gay", but whatever.

Oh sister! Any disco-house breakdown and build-back-up climax with diva on top is GAY GAY GAY (no quotes necessary).

Kevin John Bozelka, Thursday, 16 August 2007 07:11 (eighteen years ago)

Divine song, though. Wouldn't mind if it went on...well, for at least, half an hour.

Kevin John Bozelka, Thursday, 16 August 2007 07:12 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

happy house & rushing to paradise

the sultan of ban (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 07:35 (sixteen years ago)

Jordan I agree with you but the rather restrictive definition of this thread probably doesn't.

Tim F, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 07:54 (sixteen years ago)

not to sound like a dick but i didnt read the OP, i just want the "happy house" pianos to go on forever

the sultan of ban (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 08:50 (sixteen years ago)

onur özer - 'halikarnas' and 'red cabaret'

lex pretend, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 09:04 (sixteen years ago)

moodymann- dem young sconies. loads of moodyman really. Danny Krivit always plays an edit of 'As' by Stevie wonder that loops two bars from the end for about 10 minutes and im hanging from the ceiling by the end

straightola, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 09:21 (sixteen years ago)

dave aju - Crazy Place (Luciano 'Likuid' Remix)

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 15 April 2009 12:17 (sixteen years ago)

one month passes...

oasis - oasis five

maybe everything by oasis could go on this thread, but this one is so spare that it deserves special mention. i hope there is more oasis stuff in the future.

elan, Friday, 15 May 2009 04:21 (sixteen years ago)

"Sacred Sex" - Blaze

At 11 mins it kind of does anyway.

sam500, Friday, 15 May 2009 05:12 (sixteen years ago)

EON - The Spice

a mix: youtube: eon - the spice

not sure if i know how to hyperlink here, lets see...

apricot (clingstone), Friday, 15 May 2009 05:17 (sixteen years ago)

apricot (clingstone), Friday, 15 May 2009 05:19 (sixteen years ago)

Newworldaquarium - various tracks
Sound Stream - Makin' Love

mmmm, Friday, 15 May 2009 13:45 (sixteen years ago)

Anything by Studio 1

Ricardo Villalobas - MDMA

Treblekicker, Friday, 15 May 2009 13:50 (sixteen years ago)

chaz jankel 'call me (bonus dub)'

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Friday, 15 May 2009 13:55 (sixteen years ago)

probably koze's remix of "dans avec moi" because whenever I listen to it, there's this sneaky suspicion that it actually does go on forever and that koze just released six minutes of it

Popper, Friday, 15 May 2009 14:15 (sixteen years ago)

"Sacred Sex" - Blaze

this has the best spoken word intro of any house track ever

a somnambulist in an ambulance (r1o natsume), Friday, 15 May 2009 14:33 (sixteen years ago)

but possibly the worst title

Hard House SugBanton (blueski), Friday, 15 May 2009 14:36 (sixteen years ago)

On the Soundstream note, his remix of Rhythm and Sound - Free For All (5 and a half minutes is not enough!)

I could probably listen to 808 the bass queen for a good 45+ minutes, I'd imagine.

Edward Saroyan, Friday, 15 May 2009 15:39 (sixteen years ago)

C. Hreno & The Mole- Living....which has a few changes here and there but no peaks or climaxes...it just is. really something-- it's main synth line creeps into my head constantly.

(cosign on all the Oasis tracks).

the table is the table, Friday, 15 May 2009 16:15 (sixteen years ago)

I'd say most things The Mole does apply here.

Edward Saroyan, Friday, 15 May 2009 16:29 (sixteen years ago)

Voight & Voight - Vision 04
