Two East Coast art collectives with music wings. I know more about the overwhelming visual art they've generated, a lot of which follows in Panter's trail, than the music. What can you tell me?
Fort Thunder was a performance space/artist living space/studio in Providence. Among the music involved: Lightning Bolt, Arab on Radar, Landed, Forcefield, and Load Records. The Arab on Radar I heard, Queen Hygiene II, was great. Paper Rad, based around Northampton and Pittsburgh, has a bunch of related bands too, but all are new to me.
I put the two gangs together in my head because Paper Rad people once did a video for Lightning Bolt, but are they otherwise related or was that just ships passing in the night?
