Capitaine Jay Vee, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 05:16 (eighteen years ago)

And when the laaaamb
Opened the first se-e-e-al
I saaaaaaaa-a-a-a-a-aw
I saw the huss
The hussman helt a balance

Ever hear that song by The Verve that utterly, blatantly rips this off? I think it's called The Rolling People. Amusing.

Matt #2, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 09:26 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, and I was one of those dosspods that said "Hey! That's the Four Horsemen!!"

The Leading horse is whiiiite
Second horse is reddddd
Next one is a blaaaaack
the last one is a greeeeeen!
Da da daaah
Da da da dada da da

We cleaned out their pockets and we drank 'em blind!

kornrulez6969, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 13:34 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I had the Clash in my head until I opened the thread and saw Aphrodite's Child. Now I'm going to have to go and listen to that.

I vote "Mechanix" by Megadëth.

Pleasant Plains, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 00:33 (eighteen years ago)

All this talk made me go listen to Aphrodite's Child. Holy crap, what a song. If I could, I'd change my vote from The Clash.

kornrulez6969, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 13:46 (eighteen years ago)

Aphrodite's Child, definitely. I love the slow/fast/slow dynamic on that tune ... especially when they kick into that "the leading horse" part.

zaxxon25, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 14:41 (eighteen years ago)

It's not often Geir and I have agreed on something!

Herman G. Neuname, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

This track was/is on the Vertigo sampler, "Suck it and See". I got a copy of this, a long time ago, from the old Merchant's Place in Reading, specifically the dread shop. Why it was there, I have no idea, but it only had the first LP (it was a double). I'd go back in there quite often to see if I could find the second album, amongst the U-Roy's and the I-Roys. Quite enjoyed it there. It smelled nice.

(I did eventually get a full set, but the other LP wasn't as good. No.)

Mark G, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

They're all great, though.

My vote is with Metallica, though, despite the Clash being tied for my all-time favorite band, and the AC song being immense.

yes, aphrodite's child are equal in fame to metallica and the clash

roxymuzak, Saturday, 1 September 2007 18:33 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, Metallica and The Clash are the creative equals of Demis, Vangelis, Silver and Costas.

I DON'T THINK SO

Matt #2, Saturday, 1 September 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)

The Clash?

roxymuzak, Saturday, 1 September 2007 19:10 (eighteen years ago)
