Hey is that 'Hissing Fauna' just a titular reference to Joni or is it like a reply album?

Damn Reverend I'm shocked. Calle 13 is THE MOST annoying shit on the planet today. Play me 'Lean Like a Cholo' 1,000,000 times, and I'd be happier than hearing that whiny little 'Calle 13' ever again.

humansuit, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:00 (eighteen years ago)

Caveat: Most of my favorite singles of this year were floating around as of last year. A top five singles list would look like "Tango del Pecado", "Throw Some D's" "LoveStoned", "With Every Heartbeat", "U + Ur Hand", but I stuck to songs that first appeared this year.

xp: WAHT!

"Lean Like a Cholo" = snoozzze

The Reverend, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:01 (eighteen years ago)

(The word "Cholo" should be used in more songs, though.)

Yeah. I'm going to give everyone a chance to decide:

This is actually the entry in the visual dictionary under 'douche-bag.'

humansuit, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:03 (eighteen years ago)

I'd already decided I LURVE the video (their vids are generally great, except for their new "Cumbia de los Aburridos" video, which is really dumb), although, yeah, Residente does kind of look like a douche.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:06 (eighteen years ago)

But what does whether dude looks like a douchebag have to do with the quality of their music?

The Reverend, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:07 (eighteen years ago)

Actually I absolutely hate his voice. Music is nothing special. And then his little dickish attitude probably biases me further, it's true.

humansuit, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:09 (eighteen years ago)

Anyway, you haven't posted yours. Post yours.

What are your feelings about Lily Allen? (Seems random, but I get a lot of the same cheeky bastard vibe from both of them, although I like Calle 13 more than Ms. Allen.)

The Reverend, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:13 (eighteen years ago)

Reverend - you're right, I should probably not be so negative about stuff, but the reality of my situation is that I seem to always be around when MTV Tr3s is playing and that's my main musical exposure these days. Most of it doesn't do me much good.

As far as my own list, this year my wife had a baby, so my list wouldn't do anyone much good. As for Lilly Allen, I've only heard a few things, but the vocals she did on that Common track were really good, and I really quite like 'Smile.'

humansuit, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:18 (eighteen years ago)

I haven't heard the Common/Lallen track. I've been meaning to pick that album up, but I really don't have much faith in it to be any good, even though "Be" was, like, my favorite album of that year.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:23 (eighteen years ago)

Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position
Electrelane - No Shouts No Calls

Scik Mouthy, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:28 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, I wouldn't know what to do with the album. I don't really like Common, but I do indeed enjoy that one track.

humansuit, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:29 (eighteen years ago)

Actually, you make me jealouso. I don't get MTV Tr3s. -_-

The Reverend, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:34 (eighteen years ago)

Oh yeah. Sometimes its torture, but it is my current addiction. Anyway, back to the very interesting lists.

humansuit, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:36 (eighteen years ago)

I do listen to the Musica Urbana audio-only channel on my cable, though. I need to figure out what the hilarious English-language song about analingus is. I wrote it down once, but lost the paper. I sometimes worry about whose hands that note might have fallen into.

The Reverend, Tuesday, 21 August 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)

:) Now that made me laugh.
