humansuit, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 16:08 (eighteen years ago)

Nah, it's really just Freddy Mercury. Simpler that way.

Bob Standard, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 17:26 (eighteen years ago)

The greatest singer ever is Ella Fitzgerald, so the rest of you can just stop posting about your whiners yellers and mumblers now. Yeah, she ain't rock, but she was pop before there was such a thing as rock. I defy anyone to name a more thrilling vocal performance than her four minutes of scat on "Rocking in Rhythm" from the Ella Sings the Duke Ellington Songbook album.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 17:44 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, but as I recall, Ella Fitzgerald is not a short gay man in bicycle shorts.

Bob Standard, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 17:46 (eighteen years ago)

A point I concede. On the same note, I'd like to point out that life wouldn't be possible until the first generation of stars had already died, because elements heavier than hydrogen can only be created by supernovas.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 17:51 (eighteen years ago)

So you're saying I was right about Freddy Mercury.

Bob Standard, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

Ella Fitz is indeed probably the best vocalist of all. While she doesn't have the range, no one is more unique or interesting, or can bring such mojo to a song. At the same time, Freddy Mercury has the best mustache.

humansuit, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 18:22 (eighteen years ago)

> While she doesn't have the range

?!??!

Are you SURE you mean Ella Fitzgerald here? Her vocal instrument was pretty supreme. I suspect maybe you are talking about Billie Holiday. Maybe if I was sure whether you meant vocal range or emotional range.

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 20:55 (eighteen years ago)

Easy. Jeff Lescher from Green.

George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher

T-Pain!

Veronica Moser, Wednesday, 22 August 2007 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

I don't think she exhibited the best vocal range of all performers, certainly. I still think she's the best vocalist though. Do you really believe her to have THE BEST vocal range? Don't get all !!!! on me unless you do.
