It is right here for those unfamiliar.
ANYONE who mentions Placebo on this thread gets instantly castrated.

You're joking, right?
― Tom D., Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:07 (eighteen years ago)
Uh, no.
― Stevie D, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:08 (eighteen years ago)
I initially read this as:
The first 22 seconds of Texas's "The Pavement Never Whispers" is the greatest bit of feedback ever recorded.

xpost you lie and are as equally drunk as I.
― Stevie D, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:12 (eighteen years ago)
Well it's loop for a start - sampled I assume - there is a bit of feedback at the end, but it's not really feedback as such
― Tom D., Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:15 (eighteen years ago)
... I mean, the bit at the end is, I don't think the rest of it is
― Tom D., Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:16 (eighteen years ago)
well OBVIOUSLY it's not straight feedback; there are notes in there. It's just overfuckingwhelmingly distorted, and there is definitely SOME feedback in there.
― Stevie D, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:18 (eighteen years ago)
Disqualified!
― Tom D., Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:20 (eighteen years ago)
What's your point? It sounds absolute fucking incredible. Oh my god.
― Stevie D, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:22 (eighteen years ago)
Uh. That it's not the "greatest bit of feedback ever recorded"?
― Tom D., Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:26 (eighteen years ago)
Not that it matters a fuck!
― Tom D., Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:27 (eighteen years ago)
Oh no, it absolutely the greatest bit of feedbackesque ever recorded. Perhaps I made a bit of a typo in the title. It certainly comes off as 'controlled feedback' (i.e. intended notes) when listened to.
― Stevie D, Thursday, 23 August 2007 09:28 (eighteen years ago)
That's a great picture, I haven't seen that one before!

this is a fine fine piece of noise, i agree with my similarly-monikered friend here, but the prize either goes to the ear-piercing shriek at (2:15) on the velvets' 'i heard her call my name', or the blasts of feedback in betty harris's 'break in the road'

I'm quite partial to the last part of I Hate Rock'n'Roll by J&MC.
― Colonel Poo, Thursday, 23 August 2007 11:02 (eighteen years ago)
What about the end of "John, I'm Only Dancing"? Does that count as feedback?
― Michael Jones, Thursday, 23 August 2007 12:44 (eighteen years ago)
Okay then. *gets knife*
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 23 August 2007 12:49 (eighteen years ago)
ear-piercing shriek at (2:15) on the velvets' 'i heard her call my name'
The one that's supposed to illustrate Lou'd mind splitting open? That's tough to top.
How about the intro to The Blue Mask? Lou'd not fucking around there either.
― kornrulez6969, Thursday, 23 August 2007 13:44 (eighteen years ago)
Lou'd not fucking around there either.

you obviously do not have an ear for music.
it's an oberheim ob-8 through a distortion pedal.
