naiveness in musicians

If a hypothetical musician grows up not paying attention to music at all, and then suddenly starts making music, not knowing how it is suppose to be done, or what is expected, do you think this music could be better than someone who has been following music all thier life? or rather, do you like the charm of "outsider's" music? and does anyone have any good examples of some "outsiders"?

I was thinking along the lines of TV themes, David Lynch's music, or even Leonard Cohen.

Didn't the Sugarcubes claim, at the outset of their career, they'd never heard much contemporary music back in the Icelandic hood?

If said hypothetical musician made said hypothetical music, it'd inevitably sound like something that existed already. As they're starting from square one, there's only so many square twos that can possibly exist for them to move onto.

And there are so many square twos you wouldn't believe. (See: "world music")
