this song was a watershed moment for me.

my GF told me she really didnt like it and thought it was "sick." i think through that one statment she found the courage to confess she didn't like 95% of the music i listen to.

much appreciation. still haven't dug much further into boz skaggs though. someday.

i always think of norm mcdonald's larry king: "boz skaggs is the greatest songwriter alive" or whatever. haha.

Silk Degrees was my mom's favorite record when I was a kid, so this was playing all the time at my house.

I'm surprised there aren't more people my age named Boz, perhaps conceived in one of those dirty lowdown moments in the 70s.

gr8080: what did she think was sick about that song? is she allergic to soulful disco?

yes, in fact.

It's funny how the disco backlash lingers on 30 years after the fact.

The very definition of "crossover hit".

Boz Scaggs gets lumped into all those FM artists my dad was filling up his new hi-fi tape deck with inside his 280Z. Little River Band's another.

Thanks for posting this video. I had never thought of looking up some live Boz. Through that link, I found a weird demo version of "Lido Shuffle" with Jeff Porcaro in the studio. At some point in the video, they show a man getting out of a truck as the song goes "Next stop Chi-town, Lido puts the money down..." and I thought it was going to be a narrative to the song. Turns out, it just becomes a tour documentary. Still cool.
