For me its all of those atonal sounding string quartets (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!) Great while listening, but once you've switched off the impulse to distrust yr liking sets in...

Oh so do I! To the extent that there are very few times when anything else COULD possibly do. But there those sets of sounds and riffs that recur and all of a sudden its just waiting for those moments you recognize to the detriment of anything else.
This is a thread where we deny our enjoyment of things we're supposed to enjoy. Negation of a negation of a negation etc.
