S.O.S.; that Tainted Love riff just kills

Stevie D, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:13 (eighteen years ago)

When You're Mad!

da croupier, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:17 (eighteen years ago)

"When You're Mad" seconded. That's a sorry crop. The Fray's the only other contenda.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:29 (eighteen years ago)

"Temperature"

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:37 (eighteen years ago)

"Temperature" is really underrated I think...and "I'm In Luv With A Stripper" also deserves some recognition. Unfortunately, they're up against "Ridin'," which is one of the best singles of the decade so far and would probably beat most of the winners of any of these other polls in my book.

Also, "Ms. New Booty" is really really bad, and can be salvaged only by Emilys's mishearing of "ORANGE juice, Ms. New Booty!"

Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:37 (eighteen years ago)

Voting for "SOS" because it's wicked. "Walk Away" was a great Kelly track, but it didn't sample Tainted Love.

musically, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:52 (eighteen years ago)

But "S.O.S." samples "Tainted Love" and does zero with it!

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:05 (eighteen years ago)

BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY ROCKIN EVERYWHERE

Jordan Sargent, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:06 (eighteen years ago)

Chamillionaire featuring Krayzie Bone : "Ridin'"

Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:09 (eighteen years ago)

S.O.S. almost made me throw up when I first heard it

Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:09 (eighteen years ago)

Because it's so AWESOME rite?

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:18 (eighteen years ago)

Dammit, I posted this and completely overlooked "Ridin'" being on it! When the results appear, subtract one from Rihanna and give it to Chamillionaire.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:19 (eighteen years ago)

that doesn't even make sense!

xpost

Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:20 (eighteen years ago)

check on it. lol why does keith urban get to close every volume?

tremendoid, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:38 (eighteen years ago)

Ridin

groovemaaan, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 17:00 (eighteen years ago)

I considered voting for Nickelback as an act of protest, but as they all suck, I feel like not voting at all.

US hitlists are still pathetic while European hitlists have recovered by now. It's about time Americans too discover there are other - and considerably superior and better - genres than R&B and hip-hop.

Geir Hongro, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 19:33 (eighteen years ago)

A year ago, I'd have voted for "S.O.S.," but I'm sort of sick of it by now (it's still played on the radio where I live), so my vote goes to "When You're Mad," since I still love Ne-Yo's elegant chord progressions.

jaymc, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 19:41 (eighteen years ago)

go away geir. we're too busy lamenting the fact that the kooks didn't go number one over here. plz respect our privacy.

Jordan Sargent, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 19:44 (eighteen years ago)

The All-American Rejects : "Move Along"
Saving Jane : "Girl Next Door"
The Fray : "Over My Head (Cable Car)"
Chamillionaire featuring Krayzie Bone : "Ridin'"

^each of these 4 could get my vote in any given NOW...

not to mention, ms. new booty, k. clarkson, kt, luv with, SOS, or poppin my collar which are all good to v. good...

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 21:05 (eighteen years ago)

I've never been enraged by Geir before, but he's coming pretty close here

Curt1s Stephens, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 21:11 (eighteen years ago)

POPPIN MY COLLAR

billstevejim, Thursday, 30 August 2007 02:48 (eighteen years ago)

"Yo" is Chris Brown's finest moment, but I had to vote for The Fray.

danzig, Thursday, 30 August 2007 07:17 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Friday, 31 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

1. Sean Paul:"Temperature"
2. Kelly Clarkson : "Walk Away"
3. Bubba Sparxxx featuring The Ying Yang Twins : "Ms. New Booty"
4. Ne-Yo : "When You're Mad"
5. Rihanna : "SOS"
6. Chamillionaire featuring Krayzie Bone : "Ridin'"
7. Chris Brown : "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)"
8. KT Tunstall : "Black Horse & The Cherry Tree"
9. Three 6 Mafia : "Poppin' My Collar"
10. Beyoncé featuring Slim Thug: "Check on It"

This one's a bit low by recent standards. There's a distinct feeling of leftovers to it. That said, anyone who hates on "Temperature" or "BOOTYBOOTYBOOTYBOOTYROCKINEVERYWHERE" is playing themselves.

The Reverend, Saturday, 1 September 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

"temperature" is my least favorite sean paul single. or rather, the only one that i got tired of hearing.

Jordan Sargent, Saturday, 1 September 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

i kind of want to know why kt tunstall is popular. is she supposed to be a "blues" act? like norah jones is "jazz"? she's like melissa etheridge without the dykeyness or the pat benatar-esque power ballads. which means she's totally devoid of anything interesting at all.

that said, i can't choose between rihanna and chamillionaire.

Emily Bjurnhjam, Saturday, 1 September 2007 16:11 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

ILX System, Saturday, 1 September 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

fuck SOS

Curt1s Stephens, Sunday, 2 September 2007 05:03 (eighteen years ago)

I think Rihanna is awful but SOS is the business.

musically, Sunday, 2 September 2007 05:10 (eighteen years ago)

Rihanna is awful

She recorded "Umbrella"! How could you ever consider her 'awful'?

Tape Store, Sunday, 2 September 2007 05:11 (eighteen years ago)

Rihanna is awesome but SOS is shit.

My name is Kenny, Sunday, 2 September 2007 05:27 (eighteen years ago)

Umbrella is not all that...sometimes I think I'm the only one who didn't partake in the Kool-Aid binge back when Umbrella came out.

musically, Sunday, 2 September 2007 05:47 (eighteen years ago)

two years pass...

revive

Now That's What I Call A Pole, Saturday, 27 March 2010 03:31 (fifteen years ago)

who the hell didn't vote for "poppin my collar"

hipster puddy (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 27 March 2010 03:32 (fifteen years ago)

i think i had 2 have voted either 'move along' or 'ridin'' but i cant remember at all

johnny crunch, Saturday, 27 March 2010 03:34 (fifteen years ago)

yeah, i guess ridin isn't wholly disagreeable even tho i think it's kind of annoying & overrated

hipster puddy (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 27 March 2010 03:35 (fifteen years ago)

id agree it hasnt aged great

johnny crunch, Saturday, 27 March 2010 03:36 (fifteen years ago)

why the hell was I underrating "Poppin' My Collar"?

stephen juaquin (The Reverend), Saturday, 27 March 2010 04:02 (fifteen years ago)

Chris Brown : "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" 0

51ocki (k3vin k.), Saturday, 27 March 2010 04:04 (fifteen years ago)
