I've got the vibe this will be the most ridiculously unbalanced poll ever.

Stevie D, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:17 (eighteen years ago)

I hope every song gets at least one vote. Except for Hinder, who lay a goose egg.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:24 (eighteen years ago)

Still "Sexy Love," my single of the year.

Alfred, Lord Sotosyn, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:28 (eighteen years ago)

I'M BOSS-AYYYYYYYY.

"Too Little, Too Late" is an extremely close second.

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:38 (eighteen years ago)

"London Bridge," "Sexyback" and "Bossy" are the only ones from this that I really like much. "London Bridge" was my #2 pick for track of the year in the ILX poll, so I'm giving it the nod. As I wrote back then:

definitely hated on it on first listen (see the "check out the new MIA single" thread) but it grew on me rapidly. We've certainly heard songs by talentless lushes before, but I've never heard a song that so captured the experience of being a talentless lush - "London Bridge" perfectly captures the confidence, moodiness, and impenetrable certainty in one's own rightness that we've all seen in the faces of a thousand people at clubs yelling in cell phones that they're totally wasted and wish they didn't wear these shoes. There's something completely pure in the performance - possibly something quite unintentional, as the stabs at legitimate sex symbolism elsewhere in her career would suggest. But Fergie is much more "pissed jeans" than she is "Glamorous", and "London Bridge" seems to suggest that, hell, that's enough for a Thursday night on the town. Magnificent.

Also, if you haven't seen the Showbiz Pizza robots performance of the song, you really haven't lived.

Although I guess that guy has done a few of those, and it manages to improve almost every song. "Ms. New Booty" even!

Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:45 (eighteen years ago)

I also absolutely despised "London Bridge" when I first heard it. Now I love it. Have to vote for "Buttons" though.

musically, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:48 (eighteen years ago)

The first time I heard "London Bridge" I thought she was sampling Galang

Stevie D, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:54 (eighteen years ago)

Where the fuck were you people when I created that horrible M.I.A.'s "London Bridge" thread? (btw, "SexyBack" x 10)

Tape Store, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:56 (eighteen years ago)

Tape Store: I was the first person to respond to that thread, hating on the song! As I said: "definitely hated on it on first listen (see the "check out the new MIA single" thread)"

Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 01:59 (eighteen years ago)

Yes, yes, you hated the song, but you didn't get the (what i thought was a fairly obvious) M.I.A. comparison.

Tape Store, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:01 (eighteen years ago)

re: "London Bridge"

I just like the beat.

The Brainwasher, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:03 (eighteen years ago)

lol lyfe jennings.

Jordan Sargent, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:05 (eighteen years ago)

shit D4L couldn't even make one of these? RIP.

Jordan Sargent, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 02:05 (eighteen years ago)

Hinder rocks! Go Hinder!
Anthony Miccio Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Reverend, Wednesday, 29 August 2007 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

Except for Promiscuous this is pretty much the worst CD ever made and totally undeserving of its own poll.

billstevejim, Thursday, 30 August 2007 02:50 (eighteen years ago)

damn it Rodney beat me to suggesting a concerted effort to make Hinder win.

Matos W.K., Thursday, 30 August 2007 03:10 (eighteen years ago)

If, when this poll ends, you're wondering who that one person who voted for "Public Affair" was, it was me. I love that song, the only song that even came close was "Promiscuous."

My name is Kenny, Thursday, 30 August 2007 03:58 (eighteen years ago)

There are no good songs on that album. Not a single one. Some of those older US Now's did at least feature decent stuff such as Franz Ferdinand, Fountains Of Wayne or Killers. On this one, nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just crap and nothing but crap.

Geir Hongro, Thursday, 30 August 2007 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

ILX System, Friday, 31 August 2007 23:01 (eighteen years ago)

"older US Now's" = 3 volumes before this one?

Curt1s Stephens, Friday, 31 August 2007 23:09 (eighteen years ago)

if geir can't be swayed by teddy geiger then who can?

Jordan Sargent, Friday, 31 August 2007 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

Yeah, this is the clean-up batter for 2006. If memory serves, it accurately reflects what was out there at the end of last year (a bunch of garbage). Dismissing the US charts as a whole just because pop music was in the dumper for a couple months is corny fuX0r behavior.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 31 August 2007 23:12 (eighteen years ago)

teddy geiger took a girl from my hs out a few years ago.

Jordan Sargent, Friday, 31 August 2007 23:12 (eighteen years ago)

I think this is one of the better NOW editions. I like at least 6 out of the first 8 alot. Can't say that for many other of their discs.

Dan S, Saturday, 1 September 2007 06:06 (eighteen years ago)

Anyone who thinks there's nothing good on this is a crazyface. Sure, about half of it is shit, but there a good six songs here that are tremendous.

1. Nelly Furtado featuring Timbaland : Promiscuous
2. Beyoncé featuring Jay-Z : Déjà Vu
3. Ne-Yo : Sexy Love
4. Christina Aguilera : Ain't No Other Man
5. Rihanna : Unfaithful
6. Justin Timberlake featuring Timbaland : SexyBack
7. Cherish featuring Sean Paul of YoungBloodZ : Do It to It
8. Fergie : London Bridge
9. The Pussycat Dolls featuring Big Snoop Dogg : Buttons
10. Jessica Simpson : A Public Affair

The Jojo's alright, too.

The Reverend, Saturday, 1 September 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)

promiscuous is still awesome.

Jordan Sargent, Saturday, 1 September 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)
