mmm. That t-shirt says that I am Southern. I disagree.

mizzell, Thursday, 30 August 2007 14:58 (eighteen years ago)

quit hating

and what, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:00 (eighteen years ago)

Damn, I had to vote against my own state. Picked NOLA cause I think Lil' Wayne is ruling the South right now.

I love H-Town but I've been disappointed with Slim Thug and Lil' Flip lately. I really want them to do something different.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:01 (eighteen years ago)

this is best in the south for all history - geto boys + ugk >>>> lil wayne

and what, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:03 (eighteen years ago)

I picked New Orleans on GP, but also for Mystikal, Cash Money, Soulja Slim, and bounce.

Jordan, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:06 (eighteen years ago)

SPACE CITY

max, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:12 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going with ATL just based on variety and breadth. Most of those other places you can trace almost everything back to 2 or 3 particular labels or crews, in Atlanta there's just so many generations of different shit from Dungeon Fam to crunk to snappin' and trappin' and etc.

Alex in Baltimore, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)

i voted atl too

strongohulkington, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:15 (eighteen years ago)

Shotlanta

Oilyrags, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:17 (eighteen years ago)

i guess va. beach isn't southern for the purposes of this. i'd vote atlanta anyway.

tipsy mothra, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:19 (eighteen years ago)

geto boys + ugk >>>> lil wayne

This is true. But still I'd probably pick ATL over Houston still. Outkast?

I'm just on a NOLA kick right now.

Ms Misery, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:23 (eighteen years ago)

ATL just based on variety and breadth

this is true, but my two or three favorite from both Houston and NOLA just murder everything everywhere, south or not.

will, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:26 (eighteen years ago)

so I'll have to pick between those two.

will, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:29 (eighteen years ago)

I voted Atlanta. Houston may have been second.

Pleasant Plains, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:31 (eighteen years ago)

Miami = home of the BASS (although maybe not so hot currently).

Romeo Jones, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:45 (eighteen years ago)

Is anyone going to vote Memphis (not me btw, I voted Atlanta too)?

Alex in SF, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:48 (eighteen years ago)

ROYCE DA 5'9" ft YO GOTTI - LOOKIN AT MY DOGS (mp3)

yo gotti first out the gate, then royce, rappin on a flip of the old shyne beat. i gotta be honest, royce is incredible to me right now. i love where he's comin from, doin tracks with big herc, cee-lo, whatever. i got that balance mixtape, his freestyle on the ball & g "you dont want drama" beat is probably the nicest i heard this year. theres not alot of rappers who can be lyrical and flow like that while still comin street. yo gotti does that too. lately i have been real up on memphis, in the south to me it goes 1) ATL 2) NEW ORLEANS 3) MEMPHIS. they got so much talent up there! this verse is not really nothin special but he comes nice with it, i love a yo gotti verse just for reppin m and not talkin any kind of hoe shit. he just opens his mouth and real is what comes out. but royce is really why you wanna hear this, still doin those gruff barks at the end of a line, still goin doubletime like its nothin, still is gutter as hell. he does detroit and the midwest proud.

and what, Thursday, 30 August 2007 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

atl > no > houston(if port arthur counts) > memphis > miami

deej, Thursday, 30 August 2007 16:37 (eighteen years ago)

but really, atl and no are interchangeable, memphis could be 2 3 or 4, and miami is always last to me

deej, Thursday, 30 August 2007 16:38 (eighteen years ago)

i love ugk so much

St. Louis = South?

Tape Store, Sunday, 2 September 2007 22:02 (eighteen years ago)

St. Louis wouldn't deserve to be in this poll even if it was inarguably Southern.

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 2 September 2007 22:10 (eighteen years ago)

i think st. louis has the best sports cameos in music videos though.

Jordan Sargent, Sunday, 2 September 2007 22:11 (eighteen years ago)

like the "welcome to atlanta remix" is murphy lee rapping in the cardinals stadium w/ fernando vina and fred braithwaite mean mugging the camera behind him.

I ain't hating, I like at least one or two songs by all those artists. I'm just saying it's not on even Miami or Mephis's level.

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 2 September 2007 22:24 (eighteen years ago)
