Okay I have the first four albums now (well, the first one is still in the post to me on vinyl, so I can't say I've heard that one yet) but this one is the very best album by far:

Actually I'm not a huge fan of Modern Girl. In fact, I don't think I'm all that happy with the first album, period. At least You Could Have Been With Me has its moments.

Also here's something really funny I just noticed. The picture on the back sleeve of both albums shows her sitting in the more or less the same position, only her leg positions are reversed:

I was reading this last week, and I was all like "what the fuck, did Sheena cover the Dolly Parton song?" Then I noticed the title on a German '80s K-Tel comp this morning -- had no idea that "Morning Train" (which I've always loved) was originally called "9 To 5" in Europe. Joel Whitburn confirms, as I expected, that they changed the title to avoid confusion with Dolly's chart-topper from the year before.

dolly's is better :)

Easton's much vaunted homecoming ended in disaster when she performed at the massive Big Day festival on Glasgow Green in 1990.

She was booed by tens of thousands of fans after introducing tracks in an excruciating mid-Atlantic accent.

The visibly shaken singer was showered with bottles, some containing urine, throughout her short, chaotic set.

Afterwards, she vowed never to play in Scotland again and has been as good as her word.

I doubt she could find a small enough telephone box to play in.

I am horrified to think that all that happened to her because she lost some of her Scottish accent for an American one? Is this what really happened or do I have it wrong?

Anyway, I've got the LP cover on my wall now that I posted above of her in that striped outfit, and I'll never take it down EVER.

Sugar Walls outgrosses pretty much every Prince song. That song is still shocking 25 years later.

It's not better than "Strut" though.

She was good. She made the sweet-to-slutty turn more naturally and believably than Olivia Newton-John did.

haha whoa but Spotify just scrambled "Strut" about 1/2 through and played it by removing (I'd say) every other 1/2 second, so that instead of a 4 minute song it was a 2 minute song...but despite that discontinuity it still sounded like "Strut", just a hyperfast version. It was great!

I'll take "Sugar Walls" over "Strut", though.
